Jacob on the rise, as Krystal finishes with a bang

THE 2020/21 season shapes as a big one for promising apprentice Jacob Opperman after finishing his debut season of riding with his first double at Balaklava on Wednesday.

Opperman scored aboard Kirinia in the opening race for Richard and Chantelle Jolly before speedster Domination continued his affinity with the Balaklava circuit with his fourth win from five starts on the track.

Kirinia appreciated a drop back in class after chasing home boom filly Instant Celebrity first-up from a break before chasing home Super Stryker at Murray Bridge.

"She was only a cheap purchase at Magic Millions,'' Chantelle Jolly said.

"She's shown that she's got some good ability.”

The Jolly team made it a double when Kalamon justified favouritism to score his second win at Balaklava in three starts by three lengths after winning by 10 two runs back.

"He's come a long way in short time, I'm sure there is a town race in him,” she said.

“He keeps improving (and) I'm sure there's a town race in him along the line.”

Krystal Bishop landed a fairy-tale farewell winning the last aboard Exalted Traveller, Tony and Calvin finished the SA season with 99 wins after Meehni scored early in the day, while Jason Holder also ended 2019-20 stranded on 99 after a winless day.
