Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn Preview

BEST BET: NO STRINGS (Race 3)

EACH-WAY: MOUNT MADEIRA (Race 5)

VALUE: CLAREFELILLI (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 1:05PM Commercial Hotel Strathalbyn Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

DIVENIRE is on debut for Andrew Clarken. He looked pretty handy winning a recent jump-out here and I’d be happy to have something on him at the $5 in early markets. STARSPANGLED SAGA is favourite and was well fancied and just $2.50 when third behind Scotch On The Rock at Murray Bridge on debut. He ran second in a recent Morphettville trial and is on his home track here. PRINCE SAIYAN was a big drifter in betting but ran well behind Pollyanna at his SA debut. He’s drawn wide but his previous Victorian form was good for a race like this. DUCK DIVE has been around the mark with two placings before running fourth behind Around The Horn last time at Murray Bridge back in September. He’s probably going to be more effective over ground. SWEET DISTRACTION has been placed at both SA runs, sat on speed and battled away OK behind Royal Mile at Naracoorte last time. She wears pacifiers for the first time.

SELECTIONS: DIVENIRE, Starspangled Saga, Prince Saiyan

RACE 2 - 1:40PM Springfield Farm Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

WITCHEL had jumped out well prior to a good debut when she sat on speed and was narrowly beaten by Lucy Diamonds. She’s drawn out but sure to be in the mix again. MISS AMANAP looks well suited here down sharply in class after she was beaten 11.1 lengths behind Daily Spirit on debut. She was slow to begin in a Cranbourne jump-out, but could improve in a race like this, especially with the blinkers going on. LA FEMME battled at her SA debut behind Lucy Diamonds at Gawler but draws the inside and could be an improver. SQUISHIE only battled last time behind But Beautiful but draws well and must be respected. JUS TIN was runner-up at Clare two starts back and then stuck on behind Grimesy last time.

SELECTIONS: WITCHEL, Miss Amanap, La Femme

RACE 3 - 2:15PM Strath Small Engines Maiden Plate (1600 METRES)

NO STRINGS had every possible chance here three starts back over the mile and then stepped up in trip at Oakbank and was only fair behind Lollielucas. But there was a lot to like about his latest when he pulled good ground off Struck By at Morphettville. He draws out but is the clear top pick on his latest. GOGOLF GURU was sent out a $2.60 favourite when fourth behind Call Me Archer at Gawler last time. She has been around the mark in some handy races and looks well placed here. YURI ROYALE ran well on debut beaten 2.9 lengths behind Investiture and is sure to take benefit from that. EXALTED FIRE was runner-up behind Mayameen here last May and comes out of a stronger race in town. EVER ONWARD ran well at a price when runner-up behind Investiture last time and was placed at his only start here. ABERAMA GOLD ran well at big odds behind Tough Lassie at Murray Bridge last time.

SELECTIONS: NO STRINGS, Gogolf Guru, Yuri Royale

RACE 4 - 2:50PM Roadside Services and Solutions Benchmark 62 Handicap (1100 METRES)

DAWN SALUTE has talent. He has won two (placed three) of 11 starts and is a winner first-up previously. He defeated Outpost at Morphettville three starts back and looked pretty ready for this winning a recent jump-out here. He also draws perfectly in barrier three. ROHLON DRUNK was well backed and was strong late to win at Naracoorte last time. He’s won seven of 30 and his second-up record is strong. BRIMARVI ROOBOY was freshened before a good effort when runner-up behind Three Tears at Murray Bridge last time. He has each-way appeal in this class. FERGIE is a last-start Ararat winner and his overall recent form is OK for this. FABULOUS FLIPPER has won three (placed seven) of 18 starts here on his home track and was runner-up behind Neodium here last time. NEW ROMAN is first-up for the Andrew Clarken stable and must be respected. MASTERATI did win his only start her and draws a good gate.

SELECTIONS: DAWN SALUTE, Rohlon Drunk, Brimarvi Rooboy

RACE 5 - 3:25PM South Coast Marine and Caravan Upholstery Benchmark 62 Handicap (2050 METRES)

Former Victorian MOUNT MADEIRA gets his chance here out beyond the 2000m for the first time for David Jolly. He flashed home from a mile back at Murray Bridge behind Hobo Bob before another good effort here in in the Strathalbyn Cup last time behind Eperdument. He’ll end up back and on the inside which isn’t ideal but this does look his chance. MASTER OF ZERPRISE was a winner over  this track and trip three starts back, then went to Murray Bridge and won over 1800m. He finished second in the race won by Hobo Bob last time and looks a major threat. IGITUR has a great record of four wins from nine starts this track and trip, he ran on well in the Strathalbyn Cup last time. EXALTED BEAST was a good winner at Clare back in grade before racing on speed and sticking on well behind Hobo Bob last time at Murray Bridge. He will make his own luck from a handy gate. CHALLICUM got back and finished off hard behind Bossy Britches at Naracoorte and is always thereabouts in this sort of grade.

SELECTIONS: MOUNT MADEIRA, Master Of Zerprise, Igitur

RACE 6 - 4:00PM Northpoint Fleurieu Benchmark 58 Handicap (1350 METRES)

NEODIUM is an improving type who was good winning at Murray Bridge back in July and resumed with a good win over Fabulous Flipper here. He draws out but has upside and should be in the mix despite the big weight. He was scratched from Morphettville on Saturday for this. CARBONE was a winner here three starts back, was then well backed at Oakbank before sticking on well behind May Be Fate here last time. This is a slight drop in class and he jumps in the weights accordingly, but will be in the mix. WICKED WHITT had been knocking on the on the door before he overcame a drift in betting to win at Bordertown last time. He will be thereabouts. APOLLO JET has a good record on his home track and was heavily backed to beat Smart Alick here last time out. However, he is also poorly drawn. MAGIC DEE was a winner here two starts back and draws the inside gate. SILENT GENERAL ran OK at Clare last time and can improve. HEAVY ROTATION gets the blinkers for the first time.

SELECTIONS: NEODIUM, Carbone, Wicked Whitt

RACE 7 - 4:35PM Milang Caravan Park Benchmark 54 Handicap (1600 METRES)

MR COYNE was very good getting up at big odds and is now back with Nick Smart. A wide draw hasn’t helped his claims today. INDIAN MO has been placed at all three runs here and is helped via a claim. SADUKA caused an upset getting home over the top of rivals at big odds at Naracoorte last time. GROOVE WITH ME is ultra-consistent, made good ground behind Crown Harmonium at Oakbank last time and is a winner here. BIRD OF WAR ran well when making ground from the back behind Mr Coyne. CLAREFELILLI hasn’t been beaten a long way at her past couple and draws a good barrier. MAVETTE is a winner here and is capable of improving. HOLY SANGRIA has been placed at five of eight starts here and was sent out favourite at Clare last time.

SELECTIONS: MR COYNE, Clarefelilli, Indian Mo

RACE 8 - 5:10PM Goolwa Hotel Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

ANNIKA has talent and defeated Storm Voyager at Morphettville. She was runner-up behind Symphonette, before being well in the market but beaten 8.8 lengths behind La Richesse last start. That was a leader-dominated race and the form out of that has been good. CLEARY ADONIS has been off the scene for a while but has trialled nicely for his return to racing, winning a Morphettville trial. He’ll appreciate the run and be better suited over further but keep an eye on the market. MISS ARTIER has won three of five starts here and draws perfectly in gate four. Stablemate SAND CAT has won five races here and led throughout to beat I Am Impinge last time out. She draws out but has appeal. XINGYUN showed ability last time in work and did improve last time, beaten 3.9 lengths behind Pindaric. DOUBLE BLUE is fitter for two runs back from a spell and draws to be handy to the speed.

SELECTIONS: ANNIKA, Clary Adonis, Miss Artier
