Lincoln moore's Kangaroo Island Cup Preview

BEST BET: JAGERNAUT (Race 1)

EACH-WAY: Go BOOBOO (Race 6)

VALUE: I AM IMPINGE (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 1:06PM Kangaroo Island Spirits Maiden Plate (1215 METRES)

JAGGERNAUT is first-up for the Will Clarken and looks to have been set for this having had the benefit of two trials winning his latest at Gawler. He’s drawn out but has the claim for Ben Price and looks hard to beat. TROUBLED TIMES was game running 2nd behind the heavily backed Needa here on Thursday. She’s drawn out but if she handles the quick back-up looks the obvious danger. Stablemates ULTIMATE VIEW and MUG’S GAME ran $2.60 equal favourites here on Jan 23 behind  Vexatious Boy.  ULTIMATE VIEW ran OK behind Pollyanna at Strathalbyn since and draws a nice gate, MUG’S GAME wears blinkers for the first time. KID YOU NOT is on debut Heather Lehman and was in the market last start at Gundagai.

SELECTIONS: JAGERNAUT, Troubled Times, Mug’s Game

RACE 2 - 1:41PM Aurora Ozone Hotel Benchmark 62 Handicap (1215 METRES)

EQUAL BALANCE had specking here on Thursday and was climbing over them late before flashing between horses to only be beaten 0.6 len behind Smartkap. The stable has a great record on the island and if he backs up he looks very hard to beat.  VALENTINA STAR beat all but stablemate Smartkap here on Thursday when she had the perfect run and every chance but run in town four starts back behind Lake’s Folly was very good and she’s suited with the claim. SAND CAT is a go forward mare placed at both her starts here and she comes off a good win over I Am Impinge at Strathalbyn. She’s drawn wide which is the big concern. NOT APPROVED defeated Thursday’s winner Smartkap here at odds back on Jan 23, draws a good gate, HURRICANE SONNY is a track specialist with eight wins and eight placings from his 18 starts here, he went around a massive price behind Pindaric at Morphettville last time but is sure to run well here. EXCELTARA was placed at three of four starts at Port Lincoln and is another who will find this much easier than last time behind Pindaric at Morphettville. WICKED SCANDAL is an interesting one, he was sent out at odds-on favourite when beaten 6 len here on Thursday but had excuses when squeezed up late in the race. I don’t think he was going to win but he might be a forgive horse.

SELECTIONS: EQUAL BALANCE, Sand Cat, Valentina Star

RACE 3 - 2:16PM Kangaroo Island Plantation Timbers Benchmark 58 Handicap (1008 METRES)

JUSTA JILLAROO was runner-up in both starts here last year and had trialled well leading into her return at Gawler where she led throughout to beat Zegresto. She draws out which hasn’t really helped but will give them something to chase down in the weights via a Ben Price claims. SUMMER SHOW led throughout at Oakbank two starts back and was on speed when she tried at Morphettville last time but draws out and will have to work early. The early speed could play into the hands of SMARTKAP who was impressive sitting off the speed but forced to cover ground before getting over the top of stablemate Valentina Star to win here on Thursday. She has a 2kg penalty but  that might not be enough to stop her if she speed is on, MIGHTY MOSHE was another who ran well on Thursday making good ground towards the inside when 3rd behind Smartkap and SYLVITE made ground beind behind Smartkap on Thursday and draws well.

SELECTIONS: JUSTA JILLAROO, Smartkap, Mighty Moshe

RACE 4 - 2:51PM Elders Rural Services Benchmark 52 Handicap (1215 METRES)

MARY’S PRIDE was impressive sitting off the speed cruising into the race and winning softly here on Thursday. She draws wide and has copped a 2kg penalty but looks hard to beat again. CAITLIN’S ANGEL raced handy and was beaten 3.3 lengths in that race on Thursday and is a dual winner here. TINNY BAR BLUE has won two raced and was placed at Port Lincoln twice before he was well beaten at Clare. She looks the improver. MUST BE MOET is a former Victorian sure to have benefited from her SA debut here on Jan 23 beaten 4.9 lengths behind Not Approved and draws the inside. AQUANAUT draws a good barrier and was favourite at Gawler back in July.

SELECTIONS: MARY’S PRIDE, Caitlin’s Honour, Must Be Moet

RACE 5 - 3:26PM Dudley Wines Kangaroo Island Cup (1880 METRES)

Anything could win this. FULTON STREET has won 11 of 44 starts and he was good behind May Be Fate at Strathalbyn before being outclassed at Morphettville last time. He’ll make his own luck early and his best would certainly carry him a long way. TABLE OF WISDOM won this race two years ago and was well backed and only narrowly missed here on Thursday behind El Desperado. STEALTHY LUCAS was a good winner of the Bordertown Cup three starts back and he ran well beaten 2 lengths behind Von Costa Glass at Murray Bridge last time and that form has been franked since. Stablemate EL DESPERADO was a big effort coming off the speed to run down rivals here on Thursday and he draws to get a gun run. STAN THE CADDY is good enough for a race like this after win at Oakbank and Gawler over a touch further but he is drawn a tricky barrier. He would love a genuine tempo. SPLASH SOME CASH was a good winner here two starts back and then ran well I town last time, he is drawn wide but must be respected. MEADOWS YOUNG BUCK drifted in betting raced handy but knocked up late on Thursday he does draw a nice gate. Stablemate JACKS A CRACKER stuck on OK in the same race and draws to get a handy run just behind the speed. has won this race before and has strong claims, BEAU’S MY BOY led and gave a bold sight on Thursday and is sure to give them something to chase f he gains a start and HAVADUEL is a former NSW galloper who was placed at Canberra in December and draws a nice gate.

SELECTIONS: FULTON STREET, Stealthy Lucas, Stan The Caddy

RACE 6 - 4:06PM TAB Benchmark 58 Handicap (1750 METRES)

IT’S MAGIC led them up and gave a sight behind the promising Good Girl Bella at Morphettville last time. He was a Murray Bridge winner four starts and would be very hard to beat here, the sticky wide gate is a worry. AZZUREOUS was run off his feet here first-up behind Splash Some Cash and worked to the line well after he was a mile off them behind Good Girl Bella at Morphettville last time at Morphettville. He’ll appreciate the extra trip. GO BOOBOO draws poorly but he finished off hard behind El Desperado on Thursday and must be given plenty of thought if he handles the quick turnaround. MAORI MAGIC was in the speed battle early before having a good run and defeating Marymount Lass here on Thursday. He’ll get a nice run and sure to be in the mix. MARYMOUNT LASS stuck on strongly behind Maori Magic here on Thursday and draws a nice gate. Forget A LITTLE CHUNKY went around on Thursday when badly held-up and MISS ELEGEANCE showed good speed to lead but had some pressure before being beaten 2.7 lengths behind Mary’s Pride on Thursday.

SELECTIONS: GO BOOBOO, It’s Magic, Azzureous

RACE 7 - 4:46PM Sealink Rating 0-58 Handicap (1360 METRES)

MR RANGER got well back and didn’t have a lot go right in the straight behind Centre Scoota here on Thursday, he’s poorly drawn but looks a big improver. He won on day one and was runner-up on the Saturday here last year. I AM IMPINGE had specking and was narrowly beaten by Sand Cat at Strathalbyn last time and that form reads well for this despite a tricky wide gate and comes into this fresh. CALDWELL was a good winner here at his SA debut on Jan 23 and looks right in this from a good barrier draw. HE’S ALL READY is a former Queenslander who was a $2.70 fav at Gatton last time out and must be kept safe from a good barrier. UP was a good effort beating all but the heavily backed Muffla here on Thursday and that looks good form for this. SIR JOHNSON was a Balaklava winner back in November and can measure up in a race like this despite disappointing at Clare last time. TRIVAGO GIRL draws a good gate and finished off well behind Mary’s Pride on Thursday. TAIPAN TOMMY was good behind Centre Scoota at big odds here on Thursday

SELECTIONS: MR RANGER, Up, I Am Impinge
