Adelaide Racing Carnival: Day 2 Track Report and Speed Maps

Racing.com James Jordan has walked the track ahead of day two of the Adelaide Racing Carnival. Check out James' track report below, as well as speed maps for all nine races on SA Derby Day.

TRACK REPORT

Parks

The track walks very consistently from lanes 1-4 right around. Horses forced wider than lane 5 in the straight may be at a disadvantage which might have an affect on race 3 with the large field.

Verdict: Good 4. I expect is to race as per usual, slight advantage to those on pace and/or close to the fence.

Course Proper

WP-2000m start, lanes one and two walk faster, though only the Derby will be impacted and not a crucial part of the race.

2000m-1200m, lanes 1-4 walk consistently, albeit with some amount of general wear and tear. Any rain will have an impact on track rating.

Between the 1200m and 400m, the track is relatively even from lanes 1-8 with slightly better ground in lanes one and two.

400m-WP, again slightly better ground in lanes one, two and even three. However there is not enough difference to override the effect of tempo in these races.

Verdict: Good 4 but any rain could force a downgrade. I am expecting it to play better than last week with a slight edge to those close to the rail from the 1000m mark in the first half of the card.
