Lincoln Moore's Saturday Preview

BEST BET: KARACASU (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: MADDOX (Race 3)

VALUE: VAPID (Race 9)

RACE 1 - 11:26AM G.H. Mumm Handicap (2014 METRES)

Hard to line these up. The Busuttin and Young trained LAUNDY looks well placed here on his Victorian form. He draws a good gate with Ollie aboard and was a Sandown winner over 2100m four runs back. DR DEPENDABLE looks ready to win and wasn’t far away last time when beaten a tick over a length behind Ace Of Clubs. The Ryan Balfour pair of CANFORD and LOSTARC are both racing well in similar company while MANZALA appears ready to show up and he’s a two-time winner here. BUDGET KING had specking at a price and ran OK last time. VIVEDREDSKY ran in the Adelaide Cup back in March and has been over the fences in a recent hurdle trial.

SELECTIONS: LAUNDY, Dr Dependable, Canford

RACE 2 - 12:01PM David Coles AM Stakes (Formerly National Stakes) (1200 METRES)

KARACASU was very good winning here two runs back before a solid effort when he was narrowly beaten by Cloudy in the Breeders’ Stakes. He will settle back and be strong late. There looks to be good speed with three Victorians all coming off front-running wins. BUTTER BLONDE was good leading throughout at Warrnambool last time out. She draws to lead here with Craig Williams riding. Damian Lane replaces Williams on I AM IN THE MOOD, who led throughout to win at Bendigo on debut when well found at a price, while SALAMANDERS ran the fastest last 600m of the three to win at Geelong last time and draws gate five. HERESY should settle just behind the speed and was strong late on debut at Geelong. I thought LEGLESS LADY was a nice debut, running on strongly behind See You In Spring in the Without Fear Stakes, while PANIC BUY has trialled well and draws an inside gate.

SELECTIONS: KARACASU, Salamanders, I Am In The Mood

RACE 3 - 12:36PM Fleurieu Milk Company Handicap (1050 METRES)

MADDOX is a progressive type who has won two of his past three and maps to be right on speed from barrier two. His Victorian form looks good enough for this class. NOT ENOUGH EFFORT was good behind Whipcracker Way at Sandown last time and maps to get a good run handy to the speed. LARIMER STREET has strong Victorian form last year and trialled up nicely for David Jolly. He draws out but looks well suited in a race like this if he can recapture his 3YO form that saw him tackle G3 races in Melbourne. TRYGVE has done nothing wrong since coming to SA and finished strongly to beat Extra Mile in a good race last week. BALLE D’OR was a Ballarat winner two starts back before disappointing last time. THAT GIRL is a winner this track and trip and should be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: MADDOX, Not Enough Effort, Larimer Street

RACE 4 - 1:11PM TAB Proud Miss Stakes (1200 METRES)

Hot race – the leading chances would all be considered in the Goodwood. Giving BROOKLYN HUSTLE another chance. She should be a G1 winner and made ground wide out wide on a day which favoured horses towards the inside in the Sangster behind Instant Celebrity. She draws a gate and has Jamie Kah – and there is a lot to like about that. RUBISAKI is a good mare and was the eye-catcher in the Sangster. She draws to get a gun run but likes to get back and is sure to be right in the finish. HUMMA HUMMA settled closer than ideal in the Sangster and battled on well to be beaten 3.2 lengths. She’s a winner here and must be respected at her swansong. WILD VIXEN has very good fresh form and has clearly been set for this. SMOKIN’ VAL is flying and she’s always shown above-average ability. PAUL’S REGRET had admirers and was good behind Instant Celebrity in the TAB Classic.

SELECTIONS: BROOKLYN HUSTLE, Rubisaki, Humma Humma

RACE 5 - 1:51PM TAB SA Fillies Classic (2500 METRES)

FLEXIBLE was getting through the line strongly behind Media Award in the Oaks. Her form in the lead-up was very good and Damien Oliver jumps aboard. LLANACORD only got warm late behind Media Award in the Oaks and ticks boxes from a good gate, having been over the 2400m back in NZ. CHEQUERBOARD is the Tasmanian Oaks winner coming off a Cranbourne win. She draws out but has claims. SECRET SHEEMA won her maiden over 2000m but her past two have been very good behind Liquero and Through Irish Eyes. Locals GRACIEBIRD and SHEBRINGZIT must be respected. SHEBRINGZIT ran super in the Derby when fourth here last week and that form should stack up well. GRACIEBIRD comes out of an 1800m race against older horses but was wide and ran through the line strongly. He’s massive odds. BIARCHI will go around even bigger odds bit can run into the multiples. BEDFORD SQUARE has been in the market and placed at six of seven runs despite being a maiden and trained in astute hands. MIMI’S AWARD spaced rivals back in class last time

SELECTIONS: FLEXIBLE, Llanacord, Chequerboard

RACE 6 - 2:31PM Centaurea Stakes (2014 METRES)

Cracking race. SHOP TIL I DROP probably should have won last time. She closed late, but had to switch back to the inside behind Fabric in the Queen of The South. She draws out but looks primed for this. Not sure I could pile it at $3.40 but she does look the right horse at the right time. ECUMENICAL has been super against the fillies. She draws out but is sure to be in the mix again here. ZAYYDANI looks ready to fire and ran well here last year in the Derby behind Russian Camelot. KENTUCKY TORNADO flashed home behind Media Award last time and that form has stood up at G1 level. IN GOOD HEALTH will run well out in trip. MAXIMAK ran well at a price behind Fabric here last time. DAZZLING DAMSEL is going well and can run a race at a price. ROBE BAY would be in the mix in a race like this but needs to jump well.

SELECTIONS: SHOP TIL I DROP, Ecumenical, Zayydani

RACE 7 - 3:11PM R A Lee Stakes (1600 METRES)

VASSILATOR was very good beating subsequent winner Holbein last time. He’s never won at a mile but has Damien Oliver and barrier four and looks the top pick in another very open race. DR DRILL has a great record and his first-up run was solid enough for this, with Jamie Kah booked to ride. DEXTER YOU DEVIL has a great record track and trip, and gets Jye McNeil. MORVADA will be right on the bunny if he can hold up from the inside. He was a Group 3 winner two runs back and game behind Groundswell last time. LORD VLADIVOSTOK hasn’t done much wrong and draws to be right on speed. HASTA LA WAR was heavily tried last time and never in the race until late. He could be ready to peak off an injury break. MASTER CHUM was very good first-up and is a crazy price. REGALO DI GAETANO will appreciate getting out in trip.

SELECTIONS: VASSILATOR, Dr Drill, Morvada

RACE 8 - 4:16PM The Furphy Goodwood (1200 METRES)

GYTRASH is one of the best sprinters in Australia but comes in on the back of an injury. He looks in good order via some recent jump-outs and is going to take some beating from the good gate. He could find himself vulnerable late given his preparation but class will carry him a long way. BEHEMOTH is the clear danger. He could have almost won this race the past two years and the small field and good gate plays into his favour. Like last year, I feel GYTRASH will look the winner but BEHEMOTH could be the one to gun him down. INSTANT CELEBRITY was brilliant in the TAB Classic via an equally brilliant ride. She draws out and will settle back but will be strong late with the drop in weight. KEMALPASA is a very good horse and will be right there. SAVATOXL is the leader but is a rung or two below the best sprinters. We haven’t got to the bottom of BEAU ROSSA. He was super last time and could be the blow-out.

SELECTIONS:  GYTRASH, Behemoth, Instant Celebrity

RACE 9 - 4:35PM Carbine Club of South Australia Inc. Handicap (1200 METRES)

VAPID will be right in this race despite a tricky gate. She finished off strongly behind Neodium at her local debut last month, is fresh and drawing out wide should be the place to be late in the day. The $13 on offer in early markets looks a nice each-way bet to end the day. CHILL WITH TEEJAY is promising and draws the inside gate with Jamie Kah. She was good back in class and must be respected. THE NATURAL will roll forward from a good gate, was a good winner two starts back and wears the blinkers again. The Stokes stable has three key runners. LADY DUNMORE is flying but draws a sticky gate here. Her record is two from two this track and trip. AMBIDAZZLE is racing well and was second behind Lady Dunmore last time, but draws out wide. KORUTO draws to be handy and has won two of his past three back in class. ANIKA could run a cheeky race at odds.

SELECTIONS: VAPID, Chill With Teejay, Lady Dunmore
