Lincoln Moore's Gawler preview

BEST BET: FRENCH FIELDS (Race 2)

EACH-WAY: TRUMPSTA (Race 7)

VALUE: ZOUSTORM (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 12:45PM TAB Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

Looks an open maiden to start the day. ALASKAN STORM should be better for her debut behind Runamigo at Murray Bridge and has been well found after opening big odds. EYES NEVER LIE is also solid in betting. She chased home See You In Spring at Listed level on debut and looks an improver in this class. TANAKA SON is in the leading stable of the McEvoys and has blinkers on for his debut. His trial last year was only fair. GOULBURN RIVER has jumped out OK and must be respected. BELLAVARDO is a debutant for the Gordon Richards team and draws the inside. SPANGLED BRAVERY improved at her second jump-out.

SELECTIONS: ALASKAN STORM, Eyes Never Lie, Tanaka Son

RACE 2 - 1:25PM Ausbia Electrical Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

Good, even race with three or four real winning hopes. FRENCH FIELDS raced in good company in her 2YO season and chased home a handy type first-up form a break. She draws a middle gate and has solid appeal. TURN TABLE also draws a good middle gate and wasn’t far away in two starts last campaign. FALL ON A STAR didn’t fire a shot when favourite first-up in SA at Morphettville behind Tee Kay. She did trial well and the blinkers go back on, so expect sharp improvement here. NORDIC LASS has been threatening to win a maiden for a while and was favourite behind Parisienne Monde last time. CASSANDRA ISABEL has placed at three of five, while LADY ADELE has been placed at three of six starts.

SELECTIONS: FRENCH FIELDS, Turn Table, Fall On A Star

RACE 3 - 2:03PM Kingsford Hotel Maiden Plate (1506 METRES)

FUNCKIA was unwanted in betting first-up at Naracoorte but had jumped out OK and looks hard to beat in a very winnable maiden from a good gate with Todd Pannell to ride. I thought LUTZ was a good effort behind Cool Magnum first-up at Murray Bridge. He looks well placed here. CEFFYL MOR draws wide and was placed in a Ballarat maiden two starts back. CHARGING FIRE was good in two runs before a disappointing effort at Murray Bridge last time but this looks an easier task. QUEBECOIS ran well first-up in SA behind Silent Don at Balaklava, while DARJOY is on debut for Brett Campbell.

SELECTIONS: FUNCKIA, Lutz, Ceffyl Mor

RACE 4 - 2:33PM GJ Civil Distance Maiden Plate (2112 METRES)

VICTORY BANDIT is proving costly but is again the one punters want. She was ridden confidently up on speed before being cut down late at Murray Bridge. She’s back in trip here and gets another chance. CARRY THE MUSKET looks to have each-way appeal. This is a big drop in class after being tested behind Cherry Tortoni in the Guineas last time out. He maps well and won’t be far away. SMART PROMISE has been well supported and has been runner-up her past couple. She is sure to be in the finish here. PENONG ran well behind Celtic Valour and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: VICTORY BANDIT, Carry The Musket, Smart Promise

RACE 5 - 3:03PM Coopers Brewery Benchmark 62 Handicap (1506 METRES)

MUSTARI is fitter for two runs back from a spell and was good behind Rex Goliath at Strathalbyn before closing late behind Kalamon last time. This looks a winnable race despite a wide gate and he hasn’t been missed early by punters. ICE GHOST was beaten 1.6 lengths behind Bolt I Am at Murray Bridge when he was sent out favourite and draws a good gate. THE KRONE can improve in this class after two runs in Victoria. WINTER HARBOUR was a winner here two runs back and must be respected on his home track. TOUGH LASSIE was big odds when winning Naracoorte, while TINY REBEL was good at Mildura last time out.

SELECTIONS: MUSTARI, Ice Ghost, The Krone

RACE 6 - 3:33PM Adelaide Plains Bloodstock Benchmark 54 Handicap (1706 METRES)

Scratchings have really turned this race. DON’T DISMISS is a two-time winner here and strips fitter for one run back from a break. He also draws a perfect gate.  WOULDA THOUGHT SO was good behind Crypto Currency at Murray Bridge last start and has each-way appeal. POWER GLEN was runner-up behind Holy Sangria at Strathalbyn two starts back and is a winner here. Stablemate NOSTROVIA has been placed at two if his past four starts at Strathalbyn. NEAR MAGIC has placed at three of five starts here and finished off well behind Crypto Currency last time. CITY BEATS looks an improver and has won here twice.

SELECTIONS: DON’T DISMISS, Woulda Thought So, Power Glen

RACE 7 - 4:03PM Holdfast Insurance 0-58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Wide open race. TRUMPSTA has handy form lines for a race like this, winning at Murray Bridge three starts back before chasing home the likes of Call Me Shamus and Sadente. He draws a sticky gate but has strong each-way appeal. SHOPSTER was good behind Chill With Teejay at Murray Bridge last time and was a winner here four starts back. VINDEX was a good Balaklava winner two starts back and finished off well behind Bullet Kid last time. Stablemate SHOWUSYOURMOTOR was placed behind Cool Magnum at Murray Bridge and that form should measure-up well here. FREE OF SIN was a good Strathalbyn winner two run back. AUSSIE SOJOURN was a Balaklava winner four runs back and has been in the money at three of five runs here. ARCTIC BLAZE has a great record on her home deck and defeated Zume Forward here last time out. HONEY GO LIGHTLY has ability and was taken to Warrnambool first-up, while CALL ME DEXTER draws out but can figure.

SELECTIONS: TRUMPSTA, Shopster, Vindex

RACE 8 - 4:40PM Terrace Function Centre Benchmark 54 Handicap (1100 METRES)

Happy to have something on ZOUSTORM each-way. He was an Oakbank winner back in December and has been freshened since chasing home Siberian Route. He looked good in a recent Morphettville jump-out and looks to have found a suitable race. SEVEN LETTERS was good behind Gaze Grise before jumping favourite when nothing went right and was too bad to be true at Murray Bridge behind Bullet Kid. HE WILL BOOM was a Port Lincoln winner two starts back and is worth some thought on his home track despite a wide gate. SECRET CHARGE was a Port Lincoln winner three starts back. TURF TAPPER is good enough to win a race like his despite a bad gate, while DELUXE DESIGN comes into his fresh but her form last time in was OK and she’s trialled up well.

SELECTIONS: ZOUSTORM, Seven Letters, He Will Boom
