Apprentice Academy Highlights: January 2022

The new year saw plenty of success for SA's apprentice jockeys. Jade Doyle broke through for her first win, Angus Chung and Jacob Opperman record metropolitan doubles, and Stacey Callow picked up eight winners in January.


  • Jacob Opperman records two metro doubles. One at Murray Bridge on New Year's Day, the other at Gawler on January 8.
  • Sophie Logan first meeting back from a break wins on Crown Harmonium at Penola.

  • Jade Doyle records her first winning ride at Kangaroo Island aboard the Paula Trenwith-trained Oakfield Geronimo.

  • Stacey Callow picks up her first treble, also at Kangaroo Island. 

  • Angus Chung records another metropolitan double this time at Gawler.

  • Stacey Callow was the leading Apprentice for the month with eight winners and in doing so, reduced her 4kg claim to 3kgs.
