Three generations of Jolly's targeting Oakbank

On paper it’s going to be a Jolly day at Oakbank on Easter Saturday.

Three generations from the South Australian racing family have leading chances on what shapes a massive day.

David Jolly saddles up six runners including three chances in the $127.250 Hills Railway Stakes (1100m) – Larimer Street, Trip and Gaze Grise - while promising four-year-old Howl resumes late in the day.

Likewise brother Richard and his co-training daughter Chantelle have key runners.

The state’s most in-form stable has had 16 winners from just 33 runners throughout March and April striking at 37.5 per cent runners to winners.

They have the unbeaten Mr Metrics in the $107,250 Shillabeer Plate, last-start Morphettville winner Does It in the $107,250 Onkaparing Cup (2150m) while smart mare All Banter tackles the Hills Railway.

And not to be outdone, their father Peter Jolly, who has just two horses in work, has two leading chances at the Easter Saturday meeting.

Group 3 winner Morvada tackles $107,250 The Vintage (1400m) while last season’s NT Derby winner Sanblas steps up in journey and chases his fourth win in six starts in the Onkaparinga Cup.

“Both horses are going well,’’ Jolly said.

“Morvada got around the old Murray Bridge track and that used to be a good guide for horse to be able to handle Oakabank.

“Sanblas has come on well since his last win and I don’t think he’ll have any worries there.

“We all look to have some nice chances, hopefully things pan out that way,’’ he said.
