Dexelation aiming for one better in 2022 Golden Topaz

Underrated South Australian sprinter Dexelation will be trying to go one better than last year in Friday’s $150,000 Golden Topaz (1200m) at Swan Hill.

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained gelding finished runner-up behind Midships in the 2022 Golden Topaz, before stringing together three consecutive wins to end his 2021 campaign. Dexelation knocked off stablemate All Banter in October before taking out the Ladbrokes Handicap at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day and Apache Cat Classic at Cranbourne.

Despite his honest record and the Jolly stable’s impressive interstate strike-rate, Dexelation is marked a $26 chance with tab.com.au.

He will be ridden by Australasian Oaks winning jockey Daniel Moor in the race that also features Regardsmaree who finished eighth behind Lombardo in the Group 1 Goodwood in Adelaide last month. The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Rock The Ring was scratched from Morphettville on Saturday in preference to the country feature.

The McEvoy stable have Silent Sovereign accepted in Sunday’s $175,000 Swan Hill Cup alongside fellow South Australians Skilled Bunch and Magnetic Edge who are both also accepted at Morphettville.
