Horse of the Year nominees revealed

The 2021-22 South Australian Horse of the Year Awards will be a Jolly celebration.

But just what Jolly-trained horse is crowned the Horse of the Year is still to be decided.

David Jolly will be represented by Behemoth as he tries to claim the Horse of the Year Award for a second time in three years after winning in 2020, while Richard and Chantelle Jolly have the other two finalists in See You In Heaven and Regalo Di Gaetano.

Behemoth was lone South Australian Group 1 winner last season when he narrowly beat fellow local Beau Rossa to win a second successive Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Another successful season for the classy galloper saw him win the Group 3 Spring Stakes for a second successive time while also running second in the Durbridge Stakes at Listed Level.

2021-22 was a season to remember for Richard and Chantelle Jolly claiming their first SA Trainers Premiership.

Exciting filly See You In Heaven started her season with a bang on the biggest stage winning down the Flemington straight on debut on Melbourne Cup Day.

She returned for a successful Adelaide Racing Carnival winning the Group 3 Breeders Stakes and Listed Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville while recording placings in the Group 3 David Coles Stakes and Listed Cinderella Stakes.

Stablemate Regalo Di Gaetano won three of his five starts.

He claimed Group 3 success in the Eclipse Stakes at Caulfield along with SA features in the Listed John Letts Cup at Morphettville and adding a Listed Murray Bridge Cup to his impressive resume.

The 2021-22 SA Horse of the Year will be announced at the 2022 Racing SA Industry Awards at the Adelaide Convention Centre on August 27. Click here to buy tickets.
