RACE 1 - 11:52AM Thomas Farms Handicap (1100 METRES)

The Jolly pair of ALPHA FLIGHT and KUSU both come off good runs. ALPHA FLIGHT led and was only run down late by Nishikado and does gets some weight relief, KUSU pulled good ground off Eros and the step to 1100m suit his claims. REDZOUST is a McEvoy youngster resuming here and has been solid in betting early. MORE REWARD draws a good barrier.

SELECTIONS: 2 KUSU, 1 Alpha Flight, 3 Redzoust, 7 More Reward
PLAY: Backing KUSU.

RACE 2 - 12:27PM G.H. Mumm Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

COMMANDER MEROO trialled nicely at Balaklava ahead of his debut. He’s been well found in early betting and Todd Pannell rides ahead of LUCKY BLUE who has been racing well and was 4th behind Bubble Over here last start. COURAGEOUS HEARTS has been placed at 5 of 12 the latest behind Saville at Balaklava. David Jolly has two runners on debut. BONNIESIX won a recent Morphettville trial but draws a wide barrier, RICHANA draws a nice barrier and has had the three trials running 2nd in the latest here. EXALTED DAME trialled OK here for her debut and wears the blinkers, stablemate MADDISON MISS debuts for the Jon O’Connor stable and has trialled OK.

SELECTIONS: 1 COMMANDER MEROO, 2 Courageous Hearts, 13 Richana, 3 Lucky Blue
PLAY: Happy to watch on.

RACE 3 - 1:02PM Adelaide Galvanising Industries Handicap (1600 METRES)

SANTERO comes to Adelaide on the back of a good run when 4th behind Fengarada and was a Sandown winner prior. She has a big weight but the Payne stable place their horses perfectly here and Todd Pannell rides. ROBE BAY is a nice horse on her day, but her manners don’t match her ability. She was scratched at the gates recently and also scratched from Sandown on Wednesday in preference to this. UNLACED has been runner up her past two and was a month between runs when 2nd behind So Say Angel at Murray Bridge last week. KUTAYHA ran well when 3rd behind Cashin’ Chex last time.

SELECTIONS: 1 SANTERO, 5 Robe Bay, 2 Unlaced, 4 Kutayha
PLAY: Something each-way ROBE BAY.

RACE 4 - 1:37PM Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville - Oct. 8th - Nov 5th Handicap (1050 METRES)

I’ve got a lot of time for both GREAT DIVINER and HOWL. HOWL was nominated for the Goodwood last preparation and didn’t have a lot of luck in two runs. Drawing out suits his pattern and he has a very good first-up record. GREAT DIVINER was an impressive winner at his only run last preparation winning on Adelaide Cup Day, his recent trials have been solid, and he draws a good gate with the Lacky Neindorf claim. KONG has been racing well but looks a touch under in the early markets given the rise in class. He does get a big drop in weight on his latest. ANGEL LIKE is probably one with upside and her best would be in the mix in a race like this. ZARACE was good winning on speed last time and must be respected although this is harder.

SELECTIONS: 4 HOWL, 3 Great Diviner, 5 Kong, 10 Angel Like
PLAY: Staying with HOWL.

RACE 5 - 2:17PM The Junction Handicap (1200 METRES)

CHICAGO STORM is a nice type who hasn’t done a lot wrong this time around. He was only grabbed late by Knightstown last time, the inside barrier is the biggest concern here. SHORT STORIES was good coming off the speed to get the money on the Parks last time. He draws out which could be ideal if the track ends up in the heavy range. EYES NEVER LIE is knocking on the door in similar races, DEEVINE was good winning back in class last time and SAMESYN is on the quick back-up after winning at Murray Bridge during the week.

SELECTIONS: 7 CHICAGO STORM, 8 Short Stories, 9 Eyes Never Lie, 5 Deevine
PLAY: Keen on CHICAGO STORM.

RACE 6 - 2:57PM Murray Hughes/Hero Wind Handicap (2000 METRES)

JAGUARY is going super and chased home Cashin’ Chex last time out. He gets some weight relief and will love a heavy track if the rain does come. MISS GOBCAIN was dominant last time showing a nice turn of speed late beating Sign Of Ussuri and has a great record in heavy going. DUKE OF PLUMPTON is another who has a great heavy track record but draws an inside barrier. PERFECT ILLUSION is flying and was too good for Lord Bouzeron last time who has won since. DIXIE WHISTLER is going super, but this is a step up in class, BEAR ARMS is a swimmer who would like it further than the 2000m. RISING RENOWN has forgotten how to win but does prefer these conditions, SILENT COMMAND is an improver.

SELECTIONS: 1 JAGUARY, 6 Miss Gobcain, 4 Duke Of Plumpton, 8 Perfect Illusion
PLAY: Backing JAGUARY each-way.

RACE 7 - 3:37PM Grand Syndicates Spring Stakes (1200 METRES)

BEHEMOTH picks himself chasing his third successive Spring Stakes win. His trials and work leading in has been solid enough, he’s won 5 of 11 when resuming and should be too good for these. Stablemate CALYPSO REIGN has always promised at a good level and has been freshened chasing his third win in succession. He’ll be strong late. AGREEABLE is on debut for Clarken team and the danger. She caught the eye in her recent trial, has heavy track form and has been very well tried since markets opened. PINDARIC is a big danger to the favourite if the track stays in the soft range. Hard not to be impressed by his first-up win, his record is excellent, and he draws to be out of trouble. OUTLAWS REVENGE is a dual Listed winner who wasn’t beaten far behind Mileva at Caulfield last time and must be respected in a race like this. ROYAL MILE is a quality galloper who will run well fresh back in trip.

SELECTIONS: 1 BEHEMOTH, 10 Agreeable, 5 Pindaric, 3 Calypso Reign
PLAY: BEHEMOTH should be too classy.

RACE 8 - 4:17PM Furphy Handicap (1600 METRES)

MOSCOW RED brings some handy Victorian form here. He was a Sandown winner three starts back and gets some weight relief. STADIUM LIGHT ran well on debut when 2nd behind TEA RAV at Balaklava. He is a maiden who comes up short enough in the market but should run well. MUFFLA was very good second-up from a spell winning at Gawler and looks over the odds, the extra trip suit. MISS KERMIE was a Murray Bridge winner two starts back and followed with an OK effort behind Prince Jofra who has won again since. DANISH FORTUNE has been around the mark, likewise RISING LEGEND. TURFITT was good running 3rd last time and the stable is going nicely.

SELECTIONS: 1 MOSCOW RED, 8 Stadium Of Light, 7 Muffla, 13 Tea Rav
PLAY: Something on MUFFLA the place in a tricky race.

RACE 9 - 4:55PM The Fotobase Group Handicap (1100 METRES)

GLACIUS won a Gawler maiden on debut before stepping up in class and making good ground behind Taunting at Murray Bridge last week. He draws a middle gate and should give this a shake. MISS MUCINNI has talent and she made good ground behind Zarace last time, the gate suits her pattern. ULTIMATE VICTORY ran 3rd in the Zarace race and has been good since resuming the inside draw late in the day is a concern. SAVILLE Looked good winning a Balaklava maiden last time out and should benefit from that. TOORAK WARRIOR was given a perfect run to win at Mildura last time and he gets through heavy ground so the wide draw late should suit his chances. HELLO LADIES has an OK record and was a Bordertown winner last time out.

SELECTIONS: 4 GLACIUS, 11 Miss Mucinni, 8 Ultimate Victory, 9 Saville
PLAY: MISS MUCINNI and ULTIMATE VICTORY are both over the odds.
