2023/24 SA race dates revealed

Racing SA has announced the move of this year’s Listed Murray Bridge Cup to a standalone Saturday time-slot.

The $107,250 Listed Murray Bridge Gold Cup over 1600m will be the feature of South Australian metropolitan racing on Saturday October 7, one of seven Saturday meetings at Gifford Hill in season 2023-24.

The move will see Morphettville pick up an additional twilight fixture hosting racing on Friday, October 6 – when Daylight Savings returns later in the year, to compliment it’s bumper Christmas Twilight meeting set for December 15.

“The Murray Bridge Cup is a race that we feel deserves Saturday billing. The chance to showcase Murray Bridge’s marquee Listed Race will further enhance the clubs reputation as one of the state’s premier racing and training facilities.” Racing SA General Manager of Operations, Nick Bawden said.

“The Friday twilight meeting at Morphettville is also a fantastic opportunity for the SAJC to kick start their spring campaign, so we think this change will be positive for both clubs.”

Port Lincoln will kick off their season on October 1 after a stop-start 2022-23 while Oakbank will host six meetings next season including twilight fixtures in December and February.

All South Australian race meetings for the 2023/24 season can be found on the Racing SA Calendar.
