EIGHT ON THE DOT (NZ) (C. Tootell) – began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Near the 300m shifted in when insufficiently clear of SCOTTISH SOLDIER, tightening that horse in onto HOSTESS SUSIE. Rider was severely reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) and advised to exercise far more care in similar situations.

HOSTESS SUSIE (C. Murray) – slipped behind at the start resulting in the mare loosing ground. Near the 300m shifted out when placed under pressure, and was then bumped by SCOTTISH SOLDIER, which was taken in. Rider reported that the mare travelled well for the majority of the race; however, when placed under pressure HOSTESS SUSIE failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MASTER OF ZERPRISE (J. Eaton) – rider dropped her whip near the 450m. Lost its off hind plate during the event.

SCOTTISH SOLDIER (A. Livesey) – slipped behind at the start resulting in the gelding loosing ground. Near the 300m was tightened between HOSTESS SUSIE and EIGHT ON THE DOT (NZ), which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

DOUBLE YOU OWE (NZ) (S. Payne) – began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 150m was bumped by FAST BUBBLES, which shifted out. Rider reported that the gelding worked hard in the early stages of the race when attempting to cross to obtain a position close to the rails. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

LITTLE CHICAGO (B. Wong) – near the 1000m was buffeted between SNIPERS NIGHTMARE and FAST BUBBLES, which shifted out when racing greenly.

SNIPERS NIGHTMARE (T. Voorham) – change of tactics – attempt to gain cover – settled outside the leader. Near the 1000m was bumped by LITTLE CHICAGO, which shifted out. Rider reported that the gelding raced keen in the early stages, and as such she was unable to gain cover and raced wide for the majority of the event.

FAST BUBBLES (D. Caboche) – raced keen in the early stages of the event and near the 1000m, when racing greenly, shifted out and tightened LITTLE CHICAGO out onto SNIPERS NIGHTMARE. Near the 200m shifted in momentarily tightening GOTTA GO GURU. Shortly after, near the 150m, shifted back out and bumped DOUBLE YOU OWE.

LE PROVOCATEUR (W. Cave) – slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.

GOTTA GO GURU (J. Holder) – near the 450m shifted in and away from FAST BUBBLES, which was racing greenly. Near the 200m was momentarily tightened between FOREVER WILD and FAST BUBBLES, which shifted in slightly. Rider was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ensure that he rides his mounts out fully to the end of the race. Rider reported that the filly raced greenly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

NORTH MAN (A. Lai) – began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with HEBRINGS CASH, which in turn shifted in and bumped UNORTHODOX. Rider reported that the gelding hung in throughout the race and proved difficult to ride. Trainer, Mr T. Jolly, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

UNORTHODOX (C. Tootell) – bumped heavily at the start by HEBRINGS CASH, and then shortly after was bumped by NORTH MAN, both of which shifted in. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the race.

HEBRINGS CASH (T. Pannell) – bumped heavily at the start when buffeted between UNORTHODOX and NORTH MAN, which shifted in abruptly. Had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 400m and shifted out to improve. Thereafter had a chequered run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MISS DIAMANTINA (J. Holder) – slow to begin. Lost its off fore plate during the event.

STAR STUDDED BELLE (D. Caboche) – slow to begin.

CHUCKAMICKY (S. Fawke) – attempted to buck shortly after the start and lost ground. Trainer, Mr S. Whittle, was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare.

REAL VALENTIA (T. Hutchinson) – rider dropped her whip near the 200m.

BELLALIQUE (P. Brewster) – held up and unable to improve from the 500m until the 200m, initially behind GAME COVE, and then to the inside of ZUFASTA. When questioned in relation to her riding of the mare rider explained that she was held up in the early parts of the straight; however, near the 200m when attempting to shift out to improve she became aware of a run to the inside of ZUFASTA, however, was of the opinion that gelding may shift back in so she elected to continue to shift out around the outside of that horse to improve. Ms Brewster added that in hindsight, after reviewing the film she acknowledged that a better option would have been to take the run to the inside of ZUFASTA near the 200m. Stewards considered the evidence provided by P. Brewster, and also Apprentice Riding Master Mr Dean Petit, and advised P Brewster that given her limited race riding experience no further action would be taken; however, she would be expected to ride her mounts in a manner not open to questioning.

ZUFASTA (I. Lam) – held up for clear racing room between the 600m and 300m behind REAL VALENTIA and GAME COVE, then shifted out across the heels of REAL VALENTIA to improve. Rider was advised to give herself more room and to exercise greater care when racing close to the heels of runners in front of her. Lost its near fore plate during the event.

CHAMBERS BAY (T. Pannell) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

BARDOUTES (C. Murray) – held up from the 450m until near the 200m behind CHAMBERS BAY and shifted out across that horses heels to improve.

TRES BELLE (A. Livesey) – when questioned in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare rider explained that she was instructed to ride the mare neutral, and as such she dropped out of the gates and took up a position closer to the tail of the field.

SUPER ALANA (NZ) (R. Milnes) – raced keen in the early and middle stages of the event.

JUSTAKIDD (T. Voorham) – required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers.

SOLE SILENCE (B. Wong) – required to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers.

TALES OF CONFLICT (J. Doyle) – held up for clear running between the 500m and the 350m where it shifted wider to improve.

FOX D'OR (W. Cave) – began awkwardly and lost ground.

THE CHAPLAIN (C. Tootell) – began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground.

THE GREY KING (K. Crowther) – began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding rider explained that the horse only travelled fairly for the majority of the race and failed to respond when placed under pressure. She added that in her opinion the gelding is better suited when able to lead on its own accord. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

KNICKPOINT (S. Fawke) – raced tight inside CHIARO near the 700m and became momentarily unbalanced.

GRUELLING (J. Holder) – following the declaration of acceptances co-trainer, Mrs N. Searle, made a gear application to remove winkers from the gelding’s race gear. Stewards acceded to this request and acting under AR206(2) fined the co-trainers $200.

BELLA SOO (S. Logan) – became fractious after being loaded and became momentarily cast. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near hind leg (2/5) and therefore was deemed unsuitable to start. Acting on this advice Stewards declared BELLA SOO a late scratching at 5.12pm. Co-trainers, Mr J. Hickmott and Ms C. Riggs, were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.
