GROGU (D. Tourneur) – rider explained that the gelding failed to travel during the event and GROGU did feel comfortable in its action; however, was very disappointing and in his opinion the gelding may benefit from a freshen up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in both forelegs (2/5). Trainer, Mr R. Balfour, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

MAVEN MISSILE (S. Fawke) – raced wide and without cover during the event. Near the 900m rolled in and bumped CRYSTAL GAZE. Hung out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the straight.

ALI FRAZIER (T. Pannell) – near the 200m when laying in shifted in onto CRYSTAL GAZE, which was obliged to be momentarily eased when tightened onto EXALTED BELLE and thereafter continued to lay in.

CHEVY DU GRAAL (J. Holder) – near the 500m stepped a discoloured patch of the track and was awkward for a stride. Inside the 200m was awkwardly placed on the heels of CRYSTAL GAZE and was obliged to be steadied for a number of strides.

ON THE SCENT (T. Hutchinson) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Was held up for clear running from the 400m until the entrance to the straight when racing between MR FERRARI and ARTISTIC GAL. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it travelled well; however, did not let down as she had anticipated and was disappointing to the finish. Rider was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip in consecutive strides. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

CRYSTAL GAZE (P. Brewster) – near the 900m bumped with MAVEN MISSILE, which rolled in. Near the 200m, when hanging in, was obliged to be eased when tightened between ALI FRAZIER, which was laying in and shifted in, and EXALTED BELLE, which rolled out and away from ICONIC JEWEL. Thereafter the mare continued to hang in.

EXALTED BELLE (L. Neindorf) – near the 200m rolled out and away from ICONIC JEWEL onto CRYSTAL GAZE, which was obliged to ease momentarily when tightened onto ALI FRAZIER.

The start of this event was delayed approximately three minutes.

AFRICARN LAD (D. Tourneur) – raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the straight.

FRESH AIR FRED (S. Logan) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.

GIRAFFE (T. Pannell) – rider reported that the gelding travelled well in the early stages until the 800m where it came off the bridle and was disappointing to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.

ITALIAN VIKING (S. Payne) – slow to begin approximately 2-3 lengths and shortly after shifted in, in an attempt to gain cover. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MILITARY PRESS (S. Fawke) – stood flat-footed as the start was effected and as a result was slow to begin approximately 4-5 lengths.

SEVEN SHOTS (C. Murray) – hung out under pressure in the straight. Rider explained that the gelding travelled well in the early stages; however, was keen and when placed under pressure in the straight failed to respond to his riding as he had anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

FLAMBARD (B. Price) – inside the 400m stepped two separate discoloured patches on the track. Hung in under pressure in the straight and was corrected by its rider on a number of occasions.

HIGH FIVE (NZ) (J. Eaton) – refused to load. Acting on this advice Stewards declared HIGH FIVE (NZ) a late scratching at 2.16pm. Trainer, Mr M. Hickmott, was advised that the gelding would now be required to load without delay in either an Official Barrier Trial or Approval to Race Jump-out prior to accepting for a future race.

I LOVE THIS SONG (A. Lindsay) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and as a result was slow to begin approximately 1-2 lengths. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Near the 200m shifted in and unbalanced its rider.

The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute.

ABSOLUTE STUNNER (B. Price) – shortly after the start was restrained in an attempt to gain cover. Hung in under pressure in the straight.

DIVINE MISTRESS (R. Milnes) – approaching the 1200m raced in restricted room between INTO THE LIGHT and MISS NARRANGA and lost its position as both horses shifted ground.

ELECTRA BLUE (T. Pannell) – held up for clear running for a short distance near the 400m.

MISS NARRANGA (T. Hutchinson) – approaching and passing the 1200m raced in restricted room between INTO THE LIGHT and FIERY MOON for a number of strides, and thereafter commenced to over race, and near the 1000m lost ground when being restrained.

MY FRANCESS (W. Cave) – jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 600m was awkwardly placed on the heels of GABBATRON for a number of strides. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

FIERY MOON (A. Livesey) – near the 400m was momentarily inconvenienced as SIESTA DREAM rolled out slightly.

GABBATRON (J. Eaton) – slow to begin approximately 1-2 lengths. Near the 700m, when racing in restricted room between ELECTRA BLUE and SAZERAC, lost ground. Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

INTO THE LIGHT (L. Neindorf) – began well.

SAZERAC (N. Seymour) – slow to begin approximately 1-2 lengths.

SEEKING STARDOM (A. Lai) – raced keenly in the early stages.

SIESTA DREAM (K. Crowther) – near the 400m rolled out slightly onto FIERY MOON.

BROWN NOSE DAY LAD (C. Murray) – shortly after the start shifted out onto LADY SKYLLA. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung in under pressure in the straight.

OH SHOW (Z. Lloyd) – shortly after the start was taken out by UNORTHODOX.

UNORTHODOX (B. Price) – on jumping away was taken out by OH SHOW. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

TWO PERCENT ICE (C. Jones) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted out onto UNORTHODOX.

AS MAD AS ELSIE (J. Eaton) – jumped away awkwardly and shortly after had its hind quarters turned as LADY SKYLLA was taken out and was hampered and lost its position.

TOGETHERFOREVER (K. Crowther) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

LADY SKYLLA (S. Logan) – shortly after the start lost its position when hampered between BROWN NOSE DAY LAD, which was taken out onto AS MAD AS ELSIE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be tachycardic and have a poor recovery. Trainer, Mr D. Jolly, advised that his instructions were to attempt to settle in a midfield position; however, the filly was unable to do so due to the incident shortly after the start.

THE SECRET BLEND (T. Voorham) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting the outside of its barrier partition.

BELLMAN (NZ) (S. Fawke) – rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $300. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by S. Fawke and noted that he used it on ten occasions over the final 100m of the event.

GOGOLF GURU (S. Logan) – raced wide without cover throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider explained in relation to the mare’s performance that its was made to work hard during the run and will benefit from running over 2050m for the first time. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

FIZIQUE (D. Tourneur) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained.

SCOTTISH SOLDIER (A. Livesey) – raced keenly in the early stages.

PUNCHIN (K. Crowther) – inside the 1400m rolled in onto THE ICE CUTTER, which raced in restricted room to its inside for a short distance.

FEARLESS AL (S. Payne) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

ABAN (NZ) (A. Lai) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg (3/5). Trainer, Mr A. Gluyas, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

THE ICE CUTTER (C. Tootell) – inside the 1400m was inconvenienced when racing tight to the inside of PUNCHIN.

PULAMBI (R. Milnes) – inside the 1400m lost its position when racing tight to the inside of THE ICE CUTTER.

DEVINE ASSASSIN (T. Hutchinson) – jumped away awkwardly. Rider explained that her instructions were to allow the mare to begin and not place pressure on its mouth. She added that DEVINE ASSASSIN was difficult to control in the early stages and being mindful of her instructions she permitted the mare to run at her own pace.

LORD GEORGE (E. Finnegan) – raced wide without cover in the early stages, and near the 1000m was permitted by its rider to stride forward to take up a position in the lead.

FIAMETTE (N. Seymour) – slow to begin. Shortly after shifted in to take up a position closer to the rail.

THE CHAPLAIN (D. Tourneur) – over-raced in the early stages. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

FINAL CHANCE (T. Hutchinson) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

LI'L HANK (Z. Lloyd) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

MYOCEAN WARRIOR (C. Tootell) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) to ride her mounts out to the end of the race.

RUBINI (L. Neindorf) – acting on confirmed advice from co-trainer, Mr G. Richards, that the gelding had possibly been stung by a bee and would be unfit to race. Stewards declared RUBINI a late scratching at 10:37am.

REGAL ROCKET (S. Fawke) – slow into stride.

GRAFTON AVENUE (S. Payne) – jumped away awkwardly. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.

PRANCING COUNTESS (T. Voorham) – rider reported that the mare was disappointing in the event and raced in a flat manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.
