The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute. AFRICARN LAD (D. Tourneur) – shortly after the start shifted out onto OCEANSKY, which lost its position. At the entrance to the straight was taken wider by HONDURAS, which shifted out. CROSS MY LINE (C. Tootell) – reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer, Mr S. Lenehan, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding. HOOD RAT (NZ) (J. Maund) – slow to begin approximately 2-3 lengths. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider could offer no explanation in relation to the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. OCEANSKY (H. Yuen) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped WHISKY SOUR. Shortly after lost its position as AFRICARN LAD shifted out. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Hung in under pressure in the straight and proved difficult to ride out. RIVOLI VIEW (R. Milnes) – held up for clear running from near the 400m until near the 200m when racing between DETORON and WHISKY SOUR. WHISKY SOUR (L. Neindorf) – on jumping away bumped with OCEANSKY, which shifted out. HONDURAS (I. Lam) – at the entrance to the straight shifted out taking AFRICARN LAD wider. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight and was inclined to shift about. DETORON (A. Livesey) – raced keenly in the lead in the early and middle stages. LOVE DUBAI (S. Fawke) – proved difficult to load. Stable representative, was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare in relation to this behaviour. Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. GOTTA GO GURU (C. Jones) – jumped away awkwardly. Lost its near hind plate during the event. |

The start of this event was delayed approximately three minutes owing to a delay with an interstate race (Doomben). DOUBLE YOU OWE (NZ) (S. Payne) – acting on confirmed advice from trainer, Mr G. Young, that the gelding had injured its off hind leg and would be unsuitable to start Stewards declared DOUBLE YOU OWE (NZ) a late scratching at 12.01pm. Mr Young was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start. LITTLE CHICAGO (R. Milnes) – near the 600m raced in restricted room between FLYING YANK (NZ) and ILLUMINATI GEM for a short distance. Near the 150m was momentarily inconvenienced as FLYING YANK (NZ) shifted out. ARAMOSO (A. Jordsjo) – jumped away awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly. MAHENO (D. Tourneur) – laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider dropped his near side rein near the 300m and was able to regather it shortly after. SACRED CHORD (T. Voorham) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped THE LAST DANCE. STARTS NOW (T. Pannell) – laid in under pressure in the straight. THE LAST DANCE (A. Livesey) – on jumping away was buffeted between SACRED CHORD and FLYING YANK (NZ). Raced keenly in the middle stages and was awkwardly placed on the heels of SACRED CHORD for some distance approaching the 800m. ABSOLUTE STUNNER (S. The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes. VOLCANIC EXPRESS (K. Crowther) – approaching the 600m was taken wider by PRANCE ‘N’ BOW onto MONTCELOT. Near the 250m was obliged to be checked and lost its position when tightened onto SNOW ANGELS as SIOUX WARRIOR, which was hanging in, shifted in under riding when insufficiently clear, and was then obliged to shift out in an attempt to gain clear running. MONTCELOT (T. Voorham) – approaching the 600m was obliged to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of HISWAY when taken out by VOLCANIC EXPRESS. SIOUX WARRIOR (A. Lindsay) – required to be resaddled at the start. Hung in under pressure in the straight and near the 250m shifted in when insufficiently clear of VOLCANIC EXPRESS, which was obliged to be checked and lost its position when tightened onto SNOW ANGEL. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Wednesday, 10 April 2024 to conclude midnight Saturday, 20 April 2024, a period of four meetings. TRELAZE (S. Payne) – approaching the 600m, when hanging out, shifted out slightly taking PRANCE ‘N’ BOW wider. COVERT WITNESS (D. Tourneur) – rider was questioned in relation to his riding in the early stages of the event, in particular approaching and passing the 800m were it appeared to lose ground. He explained that he was observing STRASBEAU, which had commenced to buck and continued to observe for some distance. Stewards advised D. Tourneur in similar circumstance he is to ensure makes an assessment of the runners around him far sooner than he did and concentrate on his mounts. OUR GLAMOUR GIRL (C. Munro) – inside the 300m was obliged to be checked and lost its position as PRANCE ‘N’ BOW shifted in when insufficiently clear. INTACTO (J. Doyle) – from inside the 100m until the winning post raced in restricted room between SIOUX WARRIOR and LORD VALEN and was not fully tested to the finish. SNOW ANGELS (T. Hutchinson) – Near the 250m shifted in slightly in and became held up on the heels of INTACTO for some distance. STRASBEAU (L. Neindorf) – shortly after the start commenced to buck until near the 700m where it dislodged its rider. Co-trainer, Ms C. Jolly, was advised that the gelding would now be required to perform to the Stewards satisfaction in an Official Barrier Trial prior to accepting for a future race. L. Neindorf was examined by the First Care Medical personnel and was transported to hospital for further observations. PRANCE 'N' BOW (C. Tootell) – approaching the 600m was taken out by TRELAZE, which was hanging out and shifted out slightly onto VOLCANIC EXPRESS. Inside the 300m shifted in when insufficiently clear of OUR GLAMOUR GIRL, which was obliged to be checked and lost its position. The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute. PERSIAN EMPIRE (NZ) (T. Hutchinson) – jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride and shortly after was ridden along in an attempt to gain a forward position. Rider explainer her instructions were to lead on the gelding, however given the way PERSIAN EMPIRE (NZ) commenced she was unable to comply with the instructions. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Saturday, 6 April and to conclude midnight Wednesday, 10 April 2024, a period of two meetings. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by T. Hutchinson and noted that she used it on one occasion over the final 100m of the event. Stewards, after assessing T Hutchinson’s record in relation to her use of the whip, directed under AR144(2), she must attend the Riding Skills Panel for remedial and technical training with relation to her whip use. BELLMAN (NZ) (S. Fawke) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course and was found to be lame in the near foreleg (2/5) and therefore deemed unsuitable to start. Acting on this advice Stewards declared BELLMAN (NZ) a late scratching at 3.00pm. Trainer, Mr G. Lynch, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start. BARDOUTES (C. Murray) – approaching the 1400m was momentarily steadied as MR RODMAN (NZ) shifted in. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $200. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip and noted that he used it on four occasions over the final 100m of the event. MR RODMAN (NZ) (S. Payne) – approaching the 1400m shifted in onto BARDOUTES, which was momentarily steadied. Rider was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. LEADER'S PRIDE (E. Finnegan) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it travelled well in the early and middle stages; however, when asked to improve failed to let down as she had expected and was disappointing to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. D'ISLES (Z. Lloyd) – hung in under pressure in the straight. APPLIED (J. Eaton) – slow to begin. MICKLEWHITE (K.
