The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes. Ease Offa (S. Metcalfe) - jumped away awkwardly. LEAF (J. Kissick) – laid out under pressure in the straight. No Name Nigel (NZ) (D. Caboche) - slow to begin and thereafter was slow into stride. SAVETHEBESTTILLAST (K. Crowther) – laid in under pressure in the straight. Undercover Agent (C. Munro) – near the 1000m was obliged to be steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of LEAF and IVA DREAM. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Tancredi (A. Livesey) - jumped away awkwardly. Near the 1000m shifted in and away from VALKUR, despite the efforts of its rider, onto IVA DREAM, which became awkward when tightened onto UNDERCOVER AGENT. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event. Iva Dream (J. Eaton) – near the 1000m was awkwardly placed between the heels of UNDERCOVER AGENT and TANCREDI, which shifted in and away from VALKUR, despite the efforts of its rider, and as a result the rider became balanced and IVA DREAM lost ground. Lift The Bar (D. Tourneur) – Stewards questioned Trainer, Ms S. Rutten in relation to the significant betting support on the mare in this event. Ms Rutten explained that she was surprised to see such significant support on LIFT THE BAR and also that it had subsequently won the event. She added the stable were unsure as to what to expect as it was having its first start for them. She stated after acquiring the mare and assessing its breeding, the stable were of the opinion to attempt to race the mare over short trips than it had been with its previous trainer. She stated that it performed satisfactory in a jump-out and subsequent trial over shorter distances and they felt with the addition of winkers for the first time today would be beneficial to LIFT THE BAR after working the mare in winkers prior to the event. When questioned in relation to the tactics provided to the rider, she explained that there were no specific instructions, other than to allow the mare to begin well, ride where comfortable and allow it to finish off. She further stated that the stable had not supported the mare and she had not encouraged any party to do so. Rider, D. Tourneur confirmed the instructions and added that, in his assessment, from the inside barrier, he envisaged he would settle in a box seat position. Merchant Miss (K. Walters) – on exiting the mounting yard the rider was dislodged. K. Walters was examined by First Care Medical personnel and was passed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements. Kamali Rose (H. Yuen) – shortly after the start lost its position when tightened onto TANCREDI as VALKUR shifted in. Rikki Rikkardo (Z. Lloyd) – proved difficult to load. Trainer, Mr A. Clarken was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly in relation to its barrier manners. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Hung in under pressure in the straight. Valkur (S. Logan) – shortly after the start shifted in onto KAMALI ROSE. Laid out under pressure in the straight. |
