GREAT CITY (S. Payne) - jumped away awkwardly. Rider reported that it was not his intention to lead in the event; however, due to the formation of the field he allowed the gelding to stride forward and obtain that position. MIKKI TANGO (A. Livesey) – raced greenly and hung in under pressure in the straight. PRIDE OF SHALAA (J. Holder) – slow to begin. SIX STARS (J. Toeroek) – lost its near hind plate during the event. Near the 400m was disappointed when attempting a tight run between GREAT CITY, which rolled out slightly and MIKKI TANGO, which rolled in slightly and was obliged to steady and alter course to obtain clear ground. STACK OUR REWARD (J. Eaton) – near the 700m was forced to steady and lost its position when DARK HELMET (NZ) was taken in by SHAMPAS, which shifted in and away from TARA RANI. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg (2/5). Trainer, Mr B. Cozamanis was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. DARK HELMET (NZ) (K. Crowther) – near the 900m was inconvenienced when taken in onto STACK OUR REWARD by SHAMPAS. Shortly after was further inconvenienced when taken in again onto STACK OUR REWARD by SHAMPAS. Near the 700m was taken in into the running line of STACK OUR REWARD by SHAMPAS, which shifted in and away from TARA RANI. NICISH (L. Neindorf) – near the 900m shifted in and contacted SHAMPAS, taking that runner in, prior to being corrected. Near the 800m shifted in again and inconvenienced SHAMPAS, which was taken in onto DARK HELMET (NZ), which was inconvenienced when tightened onto STACK OUR REWARD. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to ensure he was sufficiently clear of runners prior to shifting ground. SHAMPAS (S. Metcalfe) – near the 900m was inconvenienced when contacted by NICISH and was taken in. Near the 800m was further inconvenienced when NICISH shifted in and as a result the filly tightened DARK HELMET (NZ). Near the 700m shifted in and away from TARA RANI onto DARK HELMET (NZ). Holder) – rider reported that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages of the event and, in his opinion, was not comfortable in the going. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. LITTLE RICH BOY (J. Eaton) – laid out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the straight. CHEF DE MISSION (T. Hutchinson) – inconvenienced on jumping away when tightened onto OBELOS (GB) by THEBIGSOSSO. SPELMAN (A. Livesey) – laid out from near the 900m until the entrance to the straight. Toeroek) – when questioned in relation to his instructions in today’s event, rider stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding dependant on how it jumped away. He added that after jumping away extremely well he found himself wide without cover and elected to push forward and sit outside the leader. He further added that, in his opinion, he would have preferred to settle a few pairs back with cover rather than outside the lead. Trainer, Mr C. Bieg confirmed that the instructions were to settle where the gelding was comfortable; however, he was surprised to see FLYWAY so far forward. SAN LUCIDO (D. Tourneur) – near the 700m was inconvenienced when taken wider by BOLTED IN. Rider explained that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages; however, from near the 700m was unable to improve with the field when the pace quickened and was disappointing to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg (2/5). Trainer, Mr J. O’Connor was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. BACK ME UP BENNY (S. Metcalfe) – held up from near the 600m until the entrance to the straight. BOLTED IN (J.
