Payne) – rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior the 100m and was fined $1000. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by S. Payne and noted that he used it on thirteen occasions over the final 100m of the event. DYER (J. Eaton) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted out contacting HARD LEAF. Inclined to shift about under pressure in the straight and near the 300m shifted in contacting TRIPOD TERROR. Shortly after shifted out and then inside the 100m shifted back in contacting TRIPOD TERROR. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. GREENIDGE HALL (D. Tourneur) – laid out over the concluding 200m. HARD LEAF (R. Milnes) – inconvenienced on jumping away when tightened between DANCING STORM, which shifted in, and DYER, which shifted out. CHOSEN MISS (F. Atkinson) – jumped away awkwardly. Near the 200m rider had to take hold off the heels of LONGER ROUTE, which shifted in and away from ANY LUCK (NZ), and was obliged to alter course to obtain clear ground, and in doing so shifted out contacting the hindquarters of BURNT BY BERNIE near the 150m. BURNT BY BERNIE (J. Eaton) – near the 150m rider had to take hold when tightened between CHOSEN MISS, which shifted out, and HAYAI MESU, which shifted in under riding. LONGER ROUTE (S. Payne) – jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Near the 200m shifted in and away from ANY LUCK (NZ) onto CHOSEN MISS. Rider was reprimanded and advised in future to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight. ANY LUCK (NZ) (K. Walters) – laid in under pressure in the straight. HAYAI MESU (M. Collett) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Near the 200m rider was forced to take hold when awkwardly placed on the heels of LONGER ROUTE, which shifted in. Near the 150m shifted in onto BURNT BY BERNIE, which had been taken out slightly, resulting in that rider having to take hold. Rider was reprimanded and advised in future to make a greater effort to keep her mounts straight. UNDERSTATEMENT (D. Caboche) – acting on confirmed advice from trainer, Mr S. Gower, that the gelding had some filling in its off hind hock and would be unfit to race Stewards declared UNDERSTATEMENT a late scratching at 9.43am. Mr Gower was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start. WARRANDYTE ROAD (S. Metcalfe) – rider reported that the gelding laid out from near the 800m until the entrance to the straight. |
