EXALTED JOY (A. Livesey) – fractious in its float en route to the course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course and was found to have a laceration to its near fore heel bulb and abrasion to its off hind fetlock, and was deemed unsuitable to start. Acting on this advice Stewards declared EXALTED JOY a late scratching at 11.15am.

I'M PAMPERED (M. Collett) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SUMAMBISTARR, and as a result lost its position. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung out under pressure in the straight and near the 200m shifted out and bumped ZARUBINA, which was inconvenienced.

FOXY FROST (S. Payne) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider explained that the filly worked hard in the early stages and this was a detriment to its chances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MAZOVIA (T. Pannell) – rider reported the filly may not have been suited to the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

QUINDIO (J. Potter) – slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Rider reported the filly may not have been suited to the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than expected recovery.

SUMAMBISTARR (P. Brewster) – on jumping away bumped with I’M PAMPERED which shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) in relation to riding her mounts out fully to the finish.

ZARUBINA (B. King) – inside the 200m was inconvenienced when tightened onto FOXY FROST as I’M PAMPERED, which was hanging out, shifted out.

GOLDE 'N' FIRE (T. Pannell) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted in onto MACADI MISS, which lost its position. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

MACADI MISS (S. Logan) – on jumping away lost its position when tightened onto MAHI MAHI, which shifted out as GOLDE ‘N’ FIRE shifted in. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that the mare raced greenly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

HOT STRUT (K. Crowther) – shortly after the start was restrained from its wide barrier. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MAHI MAHI (J. Holder) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.

ONEOFTHESENIGHTS (T. Voorham) – shortly after the start shifted in.

SHINOHARA (C. Murray) – shortly after the start was hampered as PRESTO DENARO shifted in and away from ONEOFTHESENIGHTS. Near the 300m was momentarily inconvenienced as MAHI MAHI rolled out, and thereafter had difficulty obtaining clear ground until near the 200m was shifted out to obtain clear running. Raced greenly under pressure for the remainder of the event.

TAMERICA (J. Potter) – trainer, Mr J. Potter, made a submission to Stewards that TAMERICA be declared a late scratching due to the track downgrade. Stewards acceded to the request and declared TAMERICA a late scratching at 11.58am.

WEE DRAM (S. Payne) – jumped away awkwardly. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

PRESTO DENARO (J. Doyle) – shortly after the start shifted in and away from ONEOFTHESENIGHTS onto SHINOHARA. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that the filly may not have appreciated the track conditions.

MR JONES (J. Eaton) – change of tactics – attempt to settle further back due to the wide barrier draw – settled behind midfield with cover. At the entrance to the straight was momentarily inconvenienced as PERCIDIAN shifted out. Rider reported that the gelding may not have been suited to the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

TOP SHOGUNN (R. Milnes) – rider reported that she was unable to obtain cover during the event and this was a detriment to TOP SHOGUNN’s chances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

BOLTONOVA (D. Tourneur) – slow to begin and shortly after shifted out, improved wide around the field and was permitted to stride forward to obtain a position in the lead. Hung out under pressure in the straight. Inside the 200m shifted out taking REEL WHISKEY wider over a number of strides. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event.

PERCIDIAN (A. Livesey) – slow to begin.

REEL WHISKEY (T. Pannell) – inside the 200m was taken wider by BOLTONOVA, which hung out and shifted out. Laid out over the concluding stages of the event.

ROKABYE WARRIOR (S. Payne) – on jumping away bumped with TANCREDI, which shifted out. Hung in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event.

TANCREDI (W. Cave) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ROKABYE WARRIOR.

DAD'S DREAM (J. Opperman) – inside the 700m raced in restricted room and was awkward for a number of strides between IVA DREAM and LOFONIA, and bumped with LOFONIA on a number of occasions.

INAUGURAL (S. Payne) – slow into stride. Near the 700m dipped, shifted out and hampered IVA DREAM, and shortly after IVA DREAM lost its position when tightened onto DAD’S DREAM. Held up for a short distance at the entrance to the straight.

MAXILDO (C. Munro) – hung out under pressure in the straight.

THINKINGNINTYNINE (T. Pannell) – slow into stride. Rider reported that the gelding may not have been suited to the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

IVA DREAM (T. Voorham) – inside the 700m lost its position when tightened onto DAD’S DREAM as INAUGURAL dipped and shifted out.

FANCY SHOULDER (F. Atkinson) – inside the 400m, when changing stride, dipped.

LOFONIA (D. Caboche) – shortly after the start shifted in. Inside the 700m bumped with DAD’S DREAM on a number of occasions.

LE PROVOCATEUR (J. Eaton) – rider reported that the gelding travelled well until shortly after the entrance to the straight where it became uncomfortable in its action and therefore, she did not ride the gelding out to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

LINES OF GLORY (A. Jordsjo) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped RIVOLI VIEW.

NAMADJI (J. Potter) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RIVOLI VIEW (R. Milnes) – on jumping away bumped with LINES OF GLORY and WHISKY SOUR, and shortly thereafter was buffeted between those two runners. Raced keenly in the early stages. Rider reported that it was her intention to be more forward in the event; however, the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages.

WHISKY SOUR (S. Payne) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RIVOLI VIEW. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MASTER OF ILLUSION (NZ) (S. Payne) – rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $1000. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by S. Payne and noted that he used it on two occasions over the final 100m of the event. Rider reported that the gelding may not have been suited to the track conditions.

FLIGHT DECK (NZ) (D. Tourneur) – shortly after the start, from its wider barrier, was restrained and shifted in, in an attempt to gain cover. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it travelled well throughout the event: however, when asked to improve from near the 400m did not respond and was very disappointing to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

SALUTE THE STARS (A. Jordsjo) – shortly after the entrance to the straight was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of OVABENT.

OVABENT (M. Collett) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

POCKET RAIDER (C. Murray) – trainer, Mr P. Hardacre, made a submission to Stewards that POCKET RAIDER be declared a late scratching due to the track downgrade. Stewards acceded to the request and declared POCKET RAIDER a late scratching at 11.27am.
