Rider could offer no explanation in relation to the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. JURA VAUDOIS (A. Lai) – raced greenly under pressure in the straight. ANGEL TORQUE (B. Price) – from the entrance to the straight until near the 200m raced in restricted room to the inside ZE BIRDS'N'ZEBEES, which was hanging in. Inside the 200m shifted out in attempt to gain clear running and near the 100m when attempting to improve between DAISYDOO, which was hanging in and ZE BIRDS'N'ZEBEES, which rolled out, was disappointed for that run and as a result was not fully tested to the finish. DAISYDOO (K. Crowther) - jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Raced greenly throughout the event. Hung in under pressure in the straight and proved difficult for its rider to ride out in her normal manner. Correct weight was delayed to allow B. Price (ANGEL TORQUE), fifth placegetter and the Co-trainer of that filly Ms O. MacGillivray to view the vision in the straight. |

The start of this event was delayed approximately one minute. BYWATERS ROAD (B. King) – approaching the 800 rolled out and brushed the hind quarters of SAZERAC. Shortly after bumped with that mare and as a result became awkwardly placed on the heels of TIME WARRIOR and was obliged to be steadied. Approaching the finish raced in restricted room between SPEAKEASY and ARCHDEACON. PRICKLY POPPY (NZ) (J. Opperman) – shortly after the entrance to the straight raced in restricted room between TIME WARRIOR and FLAMBARD and behind SPEAKEASY. SAZERAC (Z. Lloyd) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Approaching the 800m brushed the hind quarters of BYWATERS ROAD and shortly after bumped that gelding, became very awkward in its action and lost ground. SPEAKEASY (M. CHEF MILITAIRE (S. Payne) – shortly after the start was restrained and shifted in to obtain cover. SAN LUCIDO (A. Lai) – near the 1200m shifted in taking BONJOUR (NZ) in onto JIVE BABY, which was obliged to be momentarily steadied. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to exercise more care when shifting ground. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $200. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by A. Lai and noted that he used it once over the final 100m of the event. BONJOUR (NZ) (R. Milnes) – near the 1200m was taken in by SAN LUCIDO, which shifted in, onto JIVE BABY, which was obliged to be momentarily steadied. MOUNT MUMUKAI (S. Fawke) – rider reported that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. TALES OF CONFLICT (J. Doyle) - a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg (2/5). Trainer, Ms S. Logan was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. JIVE BABY (J. Toeroek) – near the 1200m was obliged to be momentarily steadied when BONJOUR (NZ) was taken in by SAN LUCIDO, which shifted in. Rider reported that the mare hung out throughout the event. PRANCING COUNTESS (M. Nunes) - began well. Stewards questioned the rider in relation to his riding of the mare, in particular in the early stages and the options available to him after he commenced well, rider explained that his instructions were to obtain cover and make a run away from the rail as the mare was ridden in a similar manner last start at Gawler when it won that event. He stated that after beginning well, he elected to comply with the instructions and obtain cover. He added that the mare finished the event off strong, and he was satisfied with its performance. LADY TUCAN (B. King) - rider was reprimanded under AR131(b) and advised, in future, to rides her mounts out fully to the finish. |
