Prize Money & Bonuses

Ownership

There’s nothing better than getting your first lot of prizemoney come in after a win or a good run! The amount of prizemoney depends upon the Class (or Rating) of race, where in Australia the race is held, and whether it’s a Metropolitan, Provincial or a Country meeting.

Prizemoney is paid out each Tuesday for the previous week of racing (Monday-Sunday). For races worth $100,000 or more, winning and placed horse prizemoney may be held pending the results of a swab. The swabbing process can take between 4-6 weeks.

If you have any questions related to prizemoney for races in South Australia, please email prizemoney@racingsa.com.au with your name, the horse in question and the date it won the prizemoney.

An average Adelaide Metropolitan race offers $30,000 - $50,000 in prizemoney. In addition, Racing Rewards SA offers qualified horses a chance to earn bonus prizemoney.

The richest races conducted in South Australia are the Group 1 Goodwood offering $750,000 in prizemoney and the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes offering $750,000 in prizemoney

Bonuses

Racing Rewards SA provides financial rewards to breeders, nominators, owners, trainers and jockeys over and above a race’s Prizemoney.

Every season Racing Rewards SA races are programmed throughout the state, offering over $2 million in bonuses for Racing Rewards SA qualified horses. Horses must be nominated for Racing Rewards SA as a foal within a designated deadline. The chances are your horse will have already been nominated if it was purchased in South Australia.

Racing Rewards SA qualified horses are eligible for a Racing Rewards SA bonus if they finish first, second or third in a Racing Rewards SA race.
