Apprentice Academy Talent Manager – Ruby Mayers

Ruby Mayers is Racing SA’s newly appointed Apprentice Academy Talent Manager and plays a crucial role in supporting our apprentices as they embark on the path to becoming elite athletes.

A former apprentice jockey herself, Ruby understands the pressures involved and is there to guide and mentor our young riders.

She oversees all facets of the Academy from coordinating the curriculum, tending to indentures and managing Trust Accounts, to nurturing and supporting Hong Kong Jockey Club apprentices as they work to fulfill their international riding requirements.

Ruby’s attention to detail and passion for the industry ensures that she never leaves a stone unturned when working to get the best outcome for our apprentices.

Apprentice Academy Jockey Coach – Dean Pettit

Dean Pettit is Racing SA’s experienced and engaging Jockey Coach who works with riders across the state to develop their riding skills.

Dean takes immense pride in getting the best out of our Academy riders and guides apprentices in all aspects of race day – from track walks, to form, race day procedures, race reviews and performance analysis, technique, tactics, business models and personal brand.

An experienced media performer and jockey, Dean knows the industry inside out and is a stapple at racetracks around the state. He works closely with our Talent Manager to ensure our apprentices are well equipped to get the best out of themselves and enjoy a positive start to their career as a jockey.
