This Cert II qualifications reflects the role of individuals working as a stable hand performing daily operations in a racing stable, and includes 3 weeks practical hands on delivery working with horses under supervision. Students will learn how to handle and read horse behaviour and understand a fitness campaign; observe the planning and preparation, goal setting and teamwork involved to manage a Racehorse Stable. Given the specialised nature of working with thoroughbred horses in a racing stable, this course will provide students a learning environment to gain the skills & knowledge and important safety techniques when working with horses.

Successful students can then progress to Certificate III Stable Hand or Certificate III Trackwork rider qualifications, as "on-the-job" traineeships, either as part of SACE as a school based traineeships, or graduating into full time or part-time employment.

The progression from the Cert III qualifications is into senior roles within the stable, such as foreperson, or Cert IV Horse Trainer, Cert IV Jockey, or into specific areas of horse care such as Cert IV Farriery, Equine Dentistry, Veterinary Nurse/Technician, therapeutic services, or into Sports and Racing Administration and or Racing Steward Integrity Officers involved in the rules, and regulation of our industry.
