Africarn Lad (D. Tourneur) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted APACHE STATION. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages of the event.

Apache Station (D. Caboche) – contacted on jumping away.

Ketchikan (A. Livesey) – inconvenienced over the concluding 200m when brushed by GOTTA GO GURU on a number of occasions.

Our Swoosh (NZ) (W. Cave) - jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Hung out from the vicinity of the 800m until the entrance to the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Whisky Sour (L. Neindorf) – on jumping away was awkward into stride. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Gotta Go Guru (J. Holder) – laid in under pressure in the straight. Inside the 200m shifted in and brushed with KETCHIKAN on a number of occasions.

The start of this event was delayed approximately three minutes.

Inner Sanctum (S. Metcalfe) – severely hampered on jumping away when tightened onto ALEXEIN by MACSPARK. Inside the 100m shifted out onto MACSPARK, which was inconvenienced when taken out onto SIR AALI, which was taken wider onto ALEXEIN, which was hampered. Rider was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to ensure that she is sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground.

Talkin' Italian (K. Crowther) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

Kalbarri (T. Pannell) - jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Macspark (A. Livesey) – shifted out abruptly on jumping away onto INNER SANCTUM. Raced greenly throughout the event. Near the 700m shifted out abruptly for no apparent reason. Inside the 100m was inconvenienced when taken out onto SIR AALI by INNER SANCTUM.

Alexein (I. Lam) – inconvenienced on jumping away when taken wider by INNER SANCTUM, which had been taken out. Inside the 100m was hampered when SIR AALI was taken out into its running line.

Divine Mistress (A. Jordsjo) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the near fore cannon and inflammation to the off fore flexor tendons. Trainer, Ms E. Hubbard, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

Foxy Frost (Z. Lloyd) - slow to begin.

Intacto (J. Doyle) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. laid out under pressure over the concluding 100m.

Sir Aali (F. Atkinson) – inconvenienced when taken wider inside the 100m by MACSPARK.

Taking Omaha (A. Lai) – proved difficulty to load. Trainer, Mr A. Gluyas was advised that a warning had been placed on the colt in relation to its barrier manners. Raced greenly throughout and shifted out abruptly for no apparent reason near the 700m. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Sunday, 21 April 2024 and to conclude midnight Sunday, 28 April 2024, a period of four meetings. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by A. Lai and noted that he used it on nine occasions over the final 100m of the event.

Spinach (C. Munro) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

Lord Valen (D. Tourneur) – near the 450m had to be eased and alter course to the inside of SPECTAUR, which shifted out.

Trelaze (M. Collett) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider reported that the gelding made excess respiratory noise in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Dark'n'stormy (S. Metcalfe) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Dreams Fulfilled (T. Voorham) – inconvenienced on jumping away when contacted by GOLDRUSH GURU. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Goldrush Guru (C. Jones) - jumped away awkwardly and shifted out onto DREAMS FULFILLED. In the vicinity of the 700m shifted out abruptly for no apparent reason. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that, despite her efforts, the colt was reluctant to race in the early stages after beginning awkwardly.

Megasun (H. Yuen) - slow to begin.

Spectaur (D. Caboche) – shifted out into the running line of LORD VALEN in the vicinity of the 400m forcing its rider to ease and alter course. Rider was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to ensure that he is sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground.

Prance 'N' Bow (S. Logan) – raced greenly under pressure in the straight.

The start of this event was delayed approximately five minutes.

Morris Minor (D. Tourneur) – near the 700m was forced to be steadied when tightened between STAR STUDDED BELLE, which shifted out slightly, at the same time as STAR VALOUR shifted in and in being steadied, shifted out abruptly across the heels of STAR VALOUR. Lost its off hind plate during the event.

Honduras (J. Doyle) – lost its near fore plate en route to the barriers and had to be re-plated on arrival at the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race. Proved difficult to load. Co-trainer, Mr D. Moyle was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding in relation to its barrier manners. In the vicinity of the 100m had to be steadied for a short distance when STAR STUDDED BELLE shifted in.

I Tell Ya What (T. Pannell) – shifted out shortly after the start and bumped STAR STUDDED BELLE.

Orchard Thief (S. Metcalfe) – raced wide without cover throughout the event. Hung out throughout the event.

Star Valour (I. Lam) – inconvenienced shortly after the start when contacted by STAR STUDDED BELLE. In the vicinity of the 700m shifted in onto MORRIS MINOR, which had to be steadied when tightened onto STAR STUDDED BELLE. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to ensure she is sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground.

The Tank (S. Fawke) - jumped away awkwardly.

Trumpty Dumpty (J. Toeroek) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

Star Studded Belle (Z. Lloyd) – inconvenienced shortly after the start when contacted by I TELL YA WHAT and taken in onto STAR VALOUR. In the vicinity of the 700m shifted out slightly onto MORRIS MINOR. Approaching the 100m shifted in onto HONDURAS, which had to be steadied. Rider was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.

Sacred Chord (H. Yuen) – laid out from near 800m until the entrance to the straight.

Think Tank (T. Pannell) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

One Sky Above Us (T. Hutchinson) – Stewards questioned trainer, Mr G. Lynch, into the instructions provided to apprentice T. Hutchinson, in particular if there was a change of tactics, and if the instructions provided were in the mare’s best interest and were not to advantage its stable mate, the eventual winner CHOSEN MISS. Mr Lynch advised that the instructions were similar to those provided to S. Fawke at the mare’s most recent starts in that they should look to obtain a position in the box seat or further forward if possible. He stated that S. Fawke was unable to carry out the instructions as planned due to the early speed in these races. He added that in today’s event his specific instructions were that PLAISIR was likely to lead, and if possible T. Hutchinson should attempt to take up a position to the outside of that gelding, as there was no other apparent speed in the race. Stewards questioned T. Hutchinson, who explained that the instructions she was provided was to sit to the outside of PLAISIR and ensure that it does not get an easy lead in front. She added that after encouraging her mount in the early stages it commenced to race keenly and she was unable to restrain and sit off the eventual leader BUGATTI GOLD as she had hoped. Stewards questioned S. Fawke in relation to the instructions he was provided at the mare’s most recent two starts who confirmed the instructions provided. Stewards also viewed text messages sent by Mr Lynch to the owners of the two horses in this event. Mr Lynch also advised that he had not supported either runner in the event; however, he was aware that another stable client had a sizeable bet on the winner. After considering all the evidence Stewards were of the opinion that a charge under AR100 for failing to notify of a changed of tactics, and under AR129(3) in relation to providing instructions that were in the horse’s own best interests could not be sustained.

Chosen Miss (S. Fawke) – jumped away awkwardly. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

Warrandyte Road (A. Jordsjo) – inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.

Bugatti Gold (A. Lai) – jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

Aban (NZ) (A. Lai) – shifted out at the entrance to the straight onto KING MOYA. Rider was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

HARBOURING (S. Fawke) – rider reported that the gelding hung out under pressure in the straight.

Jamrock (T. Hutchinson) – slow to begin. Approaching the 100m improved onto the heels of KING MOYA and then shifted out in an attempt to obtain clear ground; however, was unable to do so and as a result was untested to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

King Moya (D. Tourneur) – near the 400m was inconvenienced when ABAN (NZ) shifted out resulting in it being eased and altering course back to that gelding’s inside to obtain clear ground. Near the 200m was inconvenienced when attempting a run to the inside of LUCKY BLUE, which shifted in.

Lucky Blue (C. Murray) – approaching the 200m altered course to the inside of HAPTECCH, which shifted out to improve, and in doing so inconvenienced KING MOYA, which was taken in.

Rippa Buzz (S. Metcalfe) – had difficulty obtaining clear ground from the entrance to the straight until inside the 300m.

Super Alana (NZ) (P. Brewster) – slow to begin.

Nullify (J. Toeroek) – had difficulty obtaining clear ground from the entrance to the straight until approaching the 200m.

Stella Notation (A. Livesey) – after being loaded was backed out to be examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, who deemed the mare suitable to start. Was unable to be reloaded resulting in STELLA NOTATION being a late scratching at 4.14pm. Trainer, Mr R. Balfour, was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare in relation to its barrier manners.
