Yuri Royale (J. Toeroek) – rider reported that in his opinion the gelding had come to the end of its preparation and that connections had indicated that it was their intention to spell YURI ROYALE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Garachico (GB) (D. Stackhouse) – commenced to hang out passing the 600m and hung out for the remainder of the event.

Perle Bleue (FR) (J. Holder) – over the concluding stages shifted out and away from GARACHICO (GB), which was hanging out.

Wolf Prince (C. Jones) – laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Zoffala (T. Voorham) - rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $200. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by T. Voorham and noted that she used it on four occasions over the final 100m of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a wound on the gelding’s off foreleg fetlock. First aid administered. Trainer, Mr D. McLeod was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.

Dancing Storm (T. Pannell) – rider reported that the gelding laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg (1/5). Co-trainers, Mr R. Jolly & Ms. C. Jolly were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.

Silver Lifestyle (C. Hefel) – laid out rounding the home turn. Approaching the winning post was steadied when awkwardly placed near the heels of TREMBLES.

Reciprocal (K. Crowther) – raced greenly under pressure in the straight. Laid in from approaching the 200m until the finish. Rider reported that the gelding was slow to begin and as a result lost considerable ground.

Do Say (L. Riordan) – laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance today which was having its first start.

Rampant Lion (T. Stockdale) – began awkwardly and shifted out.

The Art Of Flying (A. Livesey) - slow to begin.

Fanmalia (T. Voorham) – hampered when tightened shortly after the start between RAMPANT LION, which shifted out and MASTER AT ARMS (NZ). Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $300. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by T. Voorham and noted that she used it on three occasions over the final 100m of the event.

Just Like Lisa (M. Collett) – bounded on jumping away. Near the 1200m when over racing badly was checked by its rider when awkwardly placed near the heels of TYPHOON HARMONY. After being checked the mare shifted out abruptly. Rider reported that the mare commenced to over race near the 1200m and for this reason she allowed JUST LIKE LISA to stride forward from near the 1000m to obtain the lead near the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Santelmo Fuego (T. Pannell) – held up for clear running from passing the 400m until approaching the 100m.

Whiskey 'N' Women (S. Payne) - slow to begin. Commenced to race keenly for a short distance passing the 1200m.

Master At Arms (NZ) (J. Noonan) – began awkwardly and shifted in.

Stretan Angel (L. Neindorf) – approaching the 100m when improving was inconvenienced when taken out by VEXATIOUS DANCER, which had shifted out under pressure.

Gumdrops (T. Stockdale) – near the 450m was taken out off its course by VEXATIOUS DANCER, which shifted out when not clear of that filly. Approaching the 100m was inconvenienced when racing tightly between LOVELY LOOKIN' and STRETAN ANGEL, which had been taken out by VEXATIOUS DANCER, which had shifted out when racing greenly under pressure.

Treasurway (D. Stackhouse) – began awkwardly.

Great Maximus (J. Toeroek) – rider reported that the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the event and initially had a tendency to lay out in the early stages before then laying in over the concluding stages.

Austmarr (T. Pannell) – rider could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Walk Like An Angel (C. Jones) – near the 450m was checked when tightened for room between LOVELY LOOKIN' and GUMDROPS, which was taken out by VEXATIOUS DANCER, which shifted out when not clear.

Vexatious Dancer (C. Murray) – near the 450m shifted out when not clear of GUMDROPS taking that filly out and tightened WALK LIKE AN ANGEL out onto LOOKING LOVELY. As a result of this tightening WALK LIKE AN ANGEL was checked and lost its rightful running. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Saturday, 20 April 2024 and to conclude midnight Thursday, 25 April 2024, a period of three meetings. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account C. Murray’s good record and his guilty plea. Rider reported that the filly raced greenly when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

Ironclad (GB) (T. Pannell) – rider explained that the gelding may be better suited in races over longer distances than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Rubamos (J. Opperman) – near the 1200m when racing keenly was steadied off the heels of BOOGNISH. Continued to race keenly near the 700m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Pudding (NZ) (J. Toeroek) - slow to begin. Passing the 100m when improving was steadied then shifted out to avoid the heels of PARTY PRINCESS. Approaching the winning post again was steadied when racing in restricted room between PARTY PRINCESS and SECOND TO NUN.

Second To Nun (R. Milnes) – rider reported that the mare was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout.

Chicago Storm (C. Hefel) – rider explained that after the gelding began extremely well and as a result she permitted CHICAGO STORM to stride forward to obtain the lead.

My Khalifa (D. Tourneur) – raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Near the 1100m when racing keenly was checked to avoid the heels of IRONCLAD (GB).

Party Princess (J. Holder) – rider reported that the mare was disappointing today, did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure as he anticipated and raced in a flat manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Silent Surrente (Z. Spain) – shortly after the start was tightened for room between MY KHALIFA and IRONCLAD (GB). Approaching the 100m when improving was steadied to avoid the heels of SECOND TO NUN before then shifting to the outside of that mare to obtain clear running.

Royal Mile (C. Jones) – began awkwardly.

Alpine Flyer (J. Eaton) – rider reported that the mare commenced to hang in from near the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event.

Ballon D'or (W. Price) – approaching the winning post raced in restricted room to the inside of BOOGNISH.

Bold Soul (NZ) (J. Noonan) – at the entrance to the straight was hampered when racing in restricted room between ON THE SCENT and VORACIOUS, which shifted out slightly when taken out by ARTFUL TAWNY, which in turn was taken out slightly by SABAN. As this incident could not be attributed to any one horse or rider, Stewards took no action than to notify the riders involved to exercise care when in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Approaching the winning post when laying in, shifted in onto GAWNSKI. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to take greater care when shifting ground.

Rise At Dawn (NZ) (D. Stackhouse) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course and was deemed suitable to race. Rider eased the gelding down shortly after straightening as he felt that there was something amiss with RISE AT DAWN (NZ)’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg (2/5). First aid administered. Co-trainers, Mr B, Mr W & Mr JD. Hayes were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.

Shinjuku (NZ) (T. Pannell) – kicked by another runner behind the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg (1/5) and was deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on this advice Stewards withdrew SHINJUKU (NZ) at 3:18pm. Co-trainers, Mr M. Price & Mr M. Kent (Jnr) were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.

Warialda Warrior (C. Newitt) – began awkwardly.

Gawnski (Z. Spain) – began awkwardly. Approaching and passing the winning post the gelding was tightened for room between SABAN, which had shifted out and BOLD SOUL (NZ), which had shifted in under pressure.

Artful Tawny (J. Opperman) – raced wide without cover throughout.

Saban (W. Price) – laid out under pressure over the concluding stages tightening GAWNSKI near the winning post . Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances.

BOLD SOUL (J. Noonan) – laid in under pressure in the straight tightening GAWNSKI near the winning post. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances.

Quickster (W. Price) – raced wide without cover throughout.

Justaboom (C. Murray) – gave ground quickly over the concluding stages. Rider reported that the filly made abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Sentimental Flame (D. Tourneur) – slow to begin.

Bon Mistress (D. Stackhouse) - slow to begin. At the entrance to the straight was inconvenienced when tightened for room between SENTIMENTAL FLAME and JUDGE JENNI, which shifted out.

Harvest Moon (W. Costin) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Judge Jenni (C. Newitt) – lost its off hind plate during the event. At the entrance to the straight shifted out when not fully clear of BON MISTRESS inconveniencing that filly. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed multiple lacerations to the filly’s off hind leg consistent with being galloped on. Trainer, Mr C. Maher was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.
