A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg (2/5). First aid administered. Co-trainers, Mr B, Mr W & Mr JD. Hayes were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. Shinjuku (NZ) (T. Pannell) – kicked by another runner behind the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg (1/5) and was deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on this advice Stewards withdrew SHINJUKU (NZ) at 3:18pm. Co-trainers, Mr M. Price & Mr M. Kent (Jnr) were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. Warialda Warrior (C. Newitt) – began awkwardly. Gawnski (Z. Spain) – began awkwardly. Sixteen Reasons (T. Pannell) – rider explained that his instructions were to attempt to ride the mare in a forward position; however, SIXTEEN REASONS began awkwardly and as a result settled further back than intended. He further explained that his mount was held up and unable to improve from near the 400m until near the 300m at which time he elected to shift to the inside of LASTAR to obtain a clear run. Gaze Grise (K. Crowther) – raced wide without cover throughout. Spin The Reward (C. Murray) - rider reported that the gelding hung out throughout. Classy Banner (T. Voorham) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course and was deemed suitable to race. The Hass (D. Stackhouse) – rider reported that the gelding did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and, in his opinion, was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. LASTAR (D. Tourneur) – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Guerrera (M. Harley) – laid in under pressure in the straight. Superior Sam (NZ) (J. Eaton) – held up from near the 400m until approaching the 200m. Give Some Lip (L. Neindorf) – near the 300m was steadied when awkwardly placed near the heels of THE HASS, which had commenced to give ground. After being steadied shifted to the outside of that gelding to improve. Costless (S. Metcalfe) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course which revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg (2/5) and was deemed unsuitable to race. First aid administered. Acting on this advice COSTLESS was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 3.25pm. Trainer, Ms K. Evans was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. |
