The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes.

HOOD RAT (NZ) (T. Voorham) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding was not comfortable racing in amongst other horses.

GILDED AGE (D. Tourneur) – jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after was restrained and shifted in, in an attempt to gain cover. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it was down in distance and he was obliged to settle further back than he intended. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

HIGH FIVE (NZ) (J. Eaton) – refused to load. Stewards declared HIGH FIVE (NZ) a late scratching at 9.27am. Trainer, Mr M. Hickmott, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding.

PROVEN CORRECT (J. Holder) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding felt short in its action over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg (1/5). Trainer, Mr. A. Gluyas, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

DETORON (A. Livesey) – lost its near hind plate during the event.

AMBER NOOK (C. Murray) – on jumping away bumped with MCLEOD, which shifted out.

FLYING YANK (NZ) (C. Jones) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

MCLEOD (B. Wong) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped AMBER NOOK.

SOFTLY BLACK (M. Collett) – jumped away awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages when being restrained by its rider. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

JACKS ON ICE (A. Livesey) – rider reminded of her obligation under AR131(b) to ride her mounts out fully to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

ROCKSTAR MEGGSY (J. Holder) – rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race, approximately three strides, and was fined $200. In determining penalty Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that his riding cost the mare third place in this event.

BALLON D'OR (T. Pannell) – laid out under pressure in the straight.

COPPERFIELD (NZ) (K. Crowther) – slow into stride.

RABTAT (J. Eaton) – slow to begin, approximately 2-3 lengths. Over-raced in the middle stages.

MUG'S GAME (C. Murray) – Stewards permitted C. Murray to ride the mare 0.5kg over its allocated weight of 55.0kg. Shortly after the start bumped with UNDER THE CONE, which was taken out. Shortly after bumped with PRINCE TIKEA.

PERSIAN EMPIRE (NZ) (K. Crowther) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped UNDER THE CONE.

PRINCE TIKEA (A. Livesey) – shortly after the start bumped MUG’S GAME, which was taken out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

UNDER THE CONE (B. Price) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PERSIAN EMPIRE (NZ), was then taken out and bumped with MUG’S GAME. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung in under pressure in the straight and near the 300m shifted in onto ZOFFANY ROCKET, which was obliged to be momentarily steadied when tightened onto PRINCE TIKEA. Continued to hang in under pressure in the straight and proved difficult for its rider to ride out in his normal manner. Lost its near fore plate during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

SOLAR MIST (L. Riordan) – Stewards permitted L. Riordan to ride the gelding 0.5kg over its allocated weight of 54.0kg. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained. Held up for clear running from near the 400m when racing between MUG’S GAME and PERSIAN EMPIRE (NZ). Approaching the 200m shifted to the outside of MUG’S GAME in an attempt to gain clear running and was able to do so from inside the 200m.

LUCKY JACKSON (S. Clarke) – slow to begin, approximately 1-2 lengths. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 300m.

ZOFFANY ROCKET (S. Logan) – near the 300m was momentarily steadied when tightened onto PRINCE TIKEA as UNDER THE CONE, which was hanging in, shifted in.

DANCING STORM (T. Pannell) – inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight. Lost its off hind plate during the event.

DUBAI FOCUS (D. Tourneur) – on jumping away was taken in onto LOCA BELLA by IN CINQUE, which shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

IT'S A SOLID DEEL (D. Caboche) – at the entrance to the straight was awkwardly placed on the heels of SCANDALIST, and thereafter was inclined to shift about under pressure when racing greenly in the straight.

AD ASTRA (J. Eaton) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

YES YES TESS (B. Price) – required to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers.

SCANDALIST (K. Crowther) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

IN CINQUE (L. Riordan) – jumped away very awkwardly and shifted in onto DUBAI FOCUS, which was taken in.

LOCA BELLA (C. Jones) – on jumping away was severely hampered and lost its position when tightened onto EMBER FLAME by DUBAI FOCUS, which was taken in by IN CINQUE. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

PRINCE JOFRA (R. Milnes) – near the 1000m was obliged to be momentarily steadied when racing keenly as BILLIE BRONX shifted in. Continued to over-race until near the 700m.

TURF DECISION (D. Tourneur) – when attempting to load the gelding became fractious when the barrier blanket was applied. At the Starter’s discretion the barrier blanket was removed and TURF DECISION was loaded without the barrier blanket. Slow to begin approximately 2-3 lengths. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

AMMO AMOR (H. Yuen) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

BOLT BY (S. Payne) – Stewards permitted S. Payne to ride the gelding 0.5kg over its allocated weight of 56.5kg.

MARACOURT (J. Eaton) – as the start was effected got its head up and was slow to begin, approximately 2-3 lengths. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

TOAST THE DEEL (T. Pannell) – jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.

BILLIE BRONX (M. Collett) – near the 1000m shifted in onto PRINCE JOFRA, which was obliged to be momentarily steadied when racing keenly. Rider was severely reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a) and advised in take greater care when shifting ground in future.

KINGS CONSORT (T. Pannell) – rider could offer no explanation in relation to the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

THE JOURNO (J. Holder) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

FIRST RANK (M. Collett) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MAHENO (D. Tourneur) – jumped away awkwardly. Rider explained that, in his opinion, the gelding may benefit from races over further distances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lame in the off hind leg (1/5). Trainer, Mr B. Cozamanis, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

LUNAR HERO (J. Kennedy) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

EL SALTO (S. Payne) – on jumping away bumped with TWO TIMES TWICE and shortly after was restrained. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that the gelding raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MY RUBY (S. Clarke) – slow into stride. Approaching the finish raced in restricted room between LITTLE BIT CHAI and LUNAR HERO.

TWO TIMES TWICE (L. Neindorf) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped EL SALTO.

STORYTELLER (T. Pannell) – kicked by another runner in the tie-up stalls. Underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near hind leg (2/5), and therefore was unsuitable to race. Acting on this advise Stewards declared STORYTELLER a late scratching at 12.02pm. Trainer, Mr M. Hickmott, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

LITTLE BIT CHAI (A. Lindsay) – slow to begin and shortly after shifted in abruptly and lost ground. Thereafter was ridden aggressively forward by its rider to take up a position in the lead. Rider dropped her whip near the 200m.

LITTLE RICH BOY (D. Tourneur) – laid out under pressure in the straight.
