GEEIJO (T. Voorham) – slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

INOTELL (J. Toeroek) – bumped near the 1100m.

MY CRACKLING (D. Tourneur) – approaching the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened between THE PROPHET’S HAND and TESTA DURA, which both shifted ground slightly.

SUNDOGG (T. Bull) – acting on confirmed advice from trainer, Mr J.Hyam, that the gelding had been injured in its box and would be unfit to race Stewards declared SUNDOGG a late scratching at 9.34pm.

TESTA DURA (T. Johnstone) – rider explained that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages of the event; however, when asked for an effort shortly after entering the straight failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing to the finish. She added that TESTA DURA pulled up in a normal manner.

THE PROPHET'S HAND (A. Livesey) – hung out rounding the home turn. Rider reported that the gelding hung out throughout the event.

VENDEMMIA (NZ) (K. Crowther) – passing the 1100m shifted out and bumped INOTELL. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that when placed under pressure after passing the 200m the gelding did not respond to her riding as she would have expected and commenced to give ground quickly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

GUMERACHA CRACKER (J. Holder) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

SPLASH LANDING (R. Milnes) – held up from near the 500m until approaching the 300m.

SWYCHO (NZ) (T. Pannell) – worked hard from a wide barrier to obtain the lead near the 800m.

GOPHER FRANK (R. Milnes) – near the 500m was steadied to avoid the heels of TRULY ELSE, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Held up from the 550m to the 300m. Rider reported that in her opinion the gelding may be better suited to more rain affected tracks than today’s surface.

WATCHME WIN (J. Holder) – began awkwardly, reared and lost considerable ground.

IN LOVE (A. Jordsjo) – began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MAY’S WEST.

TRULY ELSA (A. Livesey) – near the 500m shifted in when insufficiently clear of GOPHER FRANK, resulting in that gelding being steadied to avoid the heels of TRULY ELSA. Rider was reprimanded and advised to ensure she was sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future.

BABAYKA (T. Bull) – approaching the 350m shifted out and made contact with MAY’S WEST.

MAY'S WEST (Z. Lloyd) – bumped at the start. Rider reported that the mare made an unusual respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg (1/5). Co-trainers, Mr J. Hickmott and Ms C. Riggs, were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

UTAH JOE (M. Collett) – held up from the 450m until near approaching the 200m.

SEA OF LIGHTS (J. Toeroek) – reared at the start and lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. Held up from the 500m until near the 350m. Rider reported that it was his intention to race in a forward position today; however, after the manner in SEA OF LIGHTS began it settled towards the back of the field, and in his opinion this was detrimental to the mare’s performance today. He added that the mare was not suited to the lack of pace in the race in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

EIGHT ON THE DOT (NZ) (S. Fawke) – slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

FLYING ASSASSIN (R. Milnes) – shifted out near the 650m taking ALPINE BEAU wider on the track. Laid in rounding the home turn and continue to lay in under pressure in the straight.

ALPINE BEAU (Z. Lloyd) – raced wide without cover from the 1000m. Taken wider on the track near the 650m by FLYING ASSASSIN.

BACK ME UP BENNY (T. Voorham) – laid out under pressure in the straight. Rider reported that it was not her intention to lead on the gelding; however, from its favourable draw, after beginning well and the lack of speed in the race the gelding found itself in a forward position.

COMMANDER HARRY (NZ) (T. Bull) – rider reported that the gelding hung in from near the 800m for the remainder of the event.

TAMETOMO (NZ) (T. Voorham) – laid out under pressure in the straight.

SCAMSTER (A. Livesey) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg (3/5) and therefore would be unsuitable to start. Acting on this advice Stewards declared SCAMSTER a late scratching at 12.38pm. Trainer, Mr C. Reardon, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

HANGYOURHAT (NZ) (L. Neindorf) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it had not raced in over twelve months and was deemed fit to start. Slow into stride. Near the 350m was taken wider on the track by NURYS and was tightened onto the heels of SIX STARS.

BIG SWAN (B. Price) – began awkwardly.

NURYS (T. Pannell) – near the 350m improved and became awkwardly placed on the heels of INNER SANCTUM, shifted out and in doing so took HANGYOURHAT (NZ) wider and tightening that gelding onto the heels of SIX STARS. After taking into consideration the circumstances of the incident Stewards reminded T. Pannell of his obligations when shifting ground.

RICHE D'AMOUR (S. Payne) – raced wide without cover throughout the event. Over the concluding stages of the event raced in restricted room to the inside of NEVER SURRENDER, which shifted in slightly.

SIX STARS (J. Toeroek) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event, and near the 900m got its head up, shifted wider on the track and raced wide without cover thereafter.

NEVER SURRENDER (J. Holder) – held up from the 350m until near the 50m.

JACKS ON ICE (T. Johnstone) – laid in under pressure in the straight and made contact with ALL BEANS inside the 100m.

ALL BEANS (M. Collett) – laid out under pressure over the concluding 100m and made contact with JACKS ON ICE. Rider reported that the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

THE GUAVA (J. Holder) – performed below market expectations. Rider explained that the gelding was disappointing and did not quicken when placed under pressure in the straight and in his opinion may be better suited in races of longer distances than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

EXALTED DAME (A. Livesey) – raced keenly in the early stages of the event and near the 800m took JAZZ AFFAIR wider on the track.

SIXTEEN REASONS (R. Milnes) – slow to begin.

CULLEN SKINK (B. Price) – rider reported that the gelding hung in under pressure in the straight.

JAZZ AFFAIR (L. Neindorf) – raced wide without cover throughout the event. Laid in, in the straight. Rider could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

PRINCE JOFRA (T. Johnstone) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped FREAK OF NATURE. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. At the entrance to the straight became unbalanced when bumped by DISAGREEABLE MISS, which shifted out slightly. Inside the 100m raced in restricted room between GOLIOTUS, which shifted out slightly, and STRATUM PRIDE.

HE'S BESET (J. Opperman) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Eased near the 1000m away from the heels of GOLIOTUS. Rider reported that when placed under pressure in the straight the gelding did not respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

GOLIOTUS (T. Bull) – change of tactics – attempt to settle more forward – settled on-pace.

TAPINFORPAR (J. Toeroek) – near the 1000m became awkward on the heels of HE’S BESET, which eased off the heels of GOLIOTUS.

FREAK OF NATURE (Z. Spain) – bumped at the start.

ANNIHILATE (T. Voorham) – began awkwardly. Near the 1000m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TAPINFORPAR, which was awkward on heels.

DISAGREEABLE MISS (L. Neindorf) – at the entrance to the straight shifted out when weakening, made contact with PRINCE JOFRA and as a result became unbalanced. Rider explained that the mare was first up in today’s event and will gain benefit from the run and racing over further distances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

STRATUM PRIDE (A. Livesey) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.
