The start of this event was delayed approximately 19 minutes.

DRUMLARGEN (C. Tootell) – became fractious in the mounting yard pre-race and broke loose from its handler before being recaptured shortly after. Then dislodged its rider resulting in C. Tootell required to be attended to by the First Care Medical personnel. DRUMLARGEN was declared a late scratching at 1.15pm. Trainer, Mr R. Nicholson, was advised that the gelding would now be required to proceed to the start without delay in an Official Barrier Trial prior to a future race start. Rider was examined by the First Care Medical personnel and deemed unfit to fulfil her remaining engagements.

WALLUNGUNDER (J. Opperman) – became fractious behind the barriers dislodged its rider, galloped riderless and broke through a perimeter fence before being recaptured. Stewards declared WALLUNGUNDER a late scratching at 1.23pm. Trainer, Ms B. O’Loughlin, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding.

ELSIE GIRL (J. Eaton) – jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

SPIRIT OF CLARA (M. Collett) – rider eased her mount out of the event inside the 300m. A veterinary examination revealed the mare to have fractured it near hind fetlock and it was humanely euthanased.

TWILIGHT GLOW (T. Childs) – raced wide without cover throughout the event.

The start of this event was rescheduled to 2.07pm due to the delay in Race 1.

BARE MINIMUM (S. Fawke) – raced wide without cover throughout the event.

YIASOU (R. Houston) – held up from the 500m until inside the 300m. Disappointed when attempting a run between HOLPIN, which rolled out, and HIGHLAND BEAUTY, and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear ground.

HE'S ELECTRIC (NZ) (T. Madden) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

NEAVE (D. Tourneur) – finished approximately 27 lengths last. Rider could offer no explanation for the filly’s disappointing performance in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Mr T. Stokes, representing trainer Mr P. Stokes, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding in relation to being uncompetitive.

HASTA LA TRUCE (K. Walters) – slow to begin.

LOOSE LIP LLOYD (D. Tourneur) – raced keenly in the middle stages.

The start of this event was rescheduled to 2.42pm due to the delay in Race 1. The start was further delayed by approximately two minutes.

PORTATION (S. Metcalfe) – near the 500m was disappointed when attempting a run outside of LOOSE LIP LLOYD and to the inside of MERCHANT BOSS.

MELISSA KATE (NZ) (M. Collett) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

MERCHANT BOSS (T. Voorham) – slow to begin.

HANDSHAKE (T. Madden) – in the vicinity of the 400m bumped with SPACE EQUITY for a number of strides.

SPACE EQUITY (T. Childs) – in the vicinity of the 400m bumped with HANDSHAKE for a number of strides.

DELTA TANGO (T. Voorham) – in the vicinity of the 800m shortened its stride and was eased out of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg (5/5). First aid administered. Trainer, Mr T. Doudle, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

EXOPIPI (L. Neindorf) – in the vicinity of the 1500m became awkward in its action and was eased out of the event by its rider. Rider explained that he had become concerned with the mare’s action in the vicinity of the 1500m and for this reason he eased EXOPIPI out of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no cause for the mare losing its action. Trainer, Mr J. Stephens, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required to prior to the mare completing either an Official Barrier Trial or Approval to Race Jump-out to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to a future race start. On Thursday, 10 October 2024, Mr Stephens reported that the mare showed no signs of lameness on return to stables.

LOOKING SUAVE (NZ) (K. Walters) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.

THRILLIONAIRE SON (C. Puls) – rider explained that the gelding did not appreciate the underfoot conditions.

WYUNA STAR (T. Childs) – became fractious in its race day stall. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed unsuitable to start. Acting on this advice Stewards declared WYUNA STAR a late scratching at 2.57pm. Trainer, Mr D. Cannon, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start.

WHISKEY HANGOVER (J. Opperman) – in the vicinity of the 1400m was inconvenienced and taken in onto AEROETTE (NZ), by ROSE OF SEBRING.

NANKEEN (D. Tourneur) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

ALITTLEBITAPOLLY (S. Fawke) – raced greenly in the early and middle stages and in the vicinity of the 1400m shifted in and inconvenienced ROSE OF SEBRING. Rider advised he would be required to make a greater effort to keep his mounts straight in future.

EL AMIGOS (R. Houston) – jumped away awkwardly.

ROSE OF SEBRING (A. Livesey) – in the vicinity of the 1400m was inconvenienced and taken in onto WHISKEY HANGOVER by ALITTLEBITAPOLLY.

AEROETTE (NZ) (M. Collett) – in the vicinity of the 1400m was inconvenienced when WHISKEY HANGOVER was taken in.

THEY CALL ME DUSTY (D. Tourneur) – slow to begin.

BIRTHDAY SUIT (J. Opperman) – slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event.

DAN’S ECHO (T. Madden) – when questioned in relation to the tactics employed in today’s event trainer, Mr A. Homann, explained that the instructions given were the same instructions as for the mare’s previous start, which were to be forward without encouragement. He added that the addition of ear muffs allowed the mare to settle better throughout the event.

BELOVED STAR (C. Puls) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to start. Rolled about under pressure in the straight and in the vicinity of the 250m shifted out and tightened LADY ANNABEL (NZ). A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

LAST DREAM (NZ) (M. Collett) – jumped away awkwardly.

LADY ANNABEL (NZ) (K. Walters) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course and was deemed suitable to start. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. In the vicinity of the 250m raced in restricted room between BIRTHDAY SUIT and BELOVED STAR, which shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

MYLITLESTARTHATCAN – Stewards declared MYLITLESTARTHATCAN a late scratching at 2.28pm as no suitable rider was available.
