PENDING HEART (Z. Lloyd) - slow to begin. SAKASU (M. Collett) – near the 1000m was hampered and became unbalanced when brushed by JEWELS CAPTAIN, which shifted in when racing greenly. Laid in under pressure in the straight. FLYING YANK (NZ) (R. Milnes) – rider reported that the mare raced greenly throughout. IT'S A SOLID DEEL (F. Atkinson) – near the 300m was steadied when tightened for room by SUPER LAD, which when racing greenly and was taken in slightly by SWYCHO (NZ). JEWELS CAPTAIN (D. Tourneur) – hampered at the start when bumped by SWYCHO (NZ), which shifted in. Near the 1000m, when racing greenly, shifted in and contacted SAKASU and as a result became unbalanced. MATALIK (M. Chadwick) – began awkwardly. SUPER LAD (J. Holder) - began awkwardly, shifted out and contacted JEWELS CAPTAIN. Near the 300m when racing greenly was taken in slightly by SWYCHO (NZ). Rider reported that the gelding travelled well, however, when placed under pressure did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and off hind leg (2/5). Trainer, Mr C. Bieg was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. SWYCHO (NZ) (T. Pannell) – hampered at the start when bumped by KNIGHT DANCER, which shifted out. Near the 300m shifted in slightly and tightened SUPER LAD before being straightened by its rider. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to exercise greater care when in similar circumstances. TAMERICA (J. Potter) – near the 1000m when laying out, had to be steadied and shifted out across the heels of IT'S A SOLID DEEL. Continued to lay out for the reminder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer, Mr J. Potter was advised that as this was the mare’s first bi-lateral bleed TAMERICA would now be suspended from racing for a period of three months in accordance with AR79(4) and would be required to have the gelding reinstated in accordance with AR79(4)(b) prior to a future race. KNIGHT DANCER (B. King) - Change of tactics - attempt to take up a forward position in the event if possible. Began well, raced in a forward position and wide without cover throughout. On jumping away shifted out and made contact with SWYCHO (NZ). Laid in under pressure in the straight. |

AUGUSTA ROCK (A. Livesey) – raced wide without cover throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages. STARTS NOW (J. Toeroek) - slow to begin. Rider reported that the gelding lost its action behind near the 1200m for a short distance and became unbalanced as a result. He added that the gelding did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. HIGH FIVE (NZ) (T. Pannell) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that the gelding did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and, in his opinion, was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. MADISON KATE (L. Neindorf) – reared over in the mounting yard, made contact with an outside rail and dislodged its rider. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to be lame in the near hind leg (2/5) and was deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on this advice MADISON KATE was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 4.35pm. Trainer, Mr P. Stokes was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race. L. Neindorf was examined by First Care Medical personnel and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. RED ROOF (S. Metcalfe) – laid in under pressure in the straight. |

NOSIE BY NATURE (M. Chadwick) – severely hampered at the start when bumped heavily by ATALA, which began awkwardly and shifted in, and as a result lost ground. BETSY'S FLAG (B. Price) – held up for the majority of the straight and was not fully tested to the finish. When questioned, rider explained that at the entrance to the straight BETSY'S FLAG was held up for clear running. He added that near the 200m he eased the mare in an attempt to shift to the outside of ATALA to obtain a clear run; however, that mare then began to shift out in front and as a result he shifted back to the inside of ATALA in an attempt to gain clear running. He stated that he was then held up from this point until the end of the event and was unable to ride his mount out. Stewards noted B. Price’s explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. ATALA (S. Payne) - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with NOSIE BY NATURE. RIVER CLYDE (A. Lai) – rider reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event and he had some concerns with RIVER CLYDE’s action in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. THE STING (J. Doyle) – fractious in its barrier after being loaded, reared as the start was affected and lost considerable ground. EMMOOKI MAGIC (R. Milnes) – rider reported that the mare raced wide without cover throughout and, in her opinion, this was detrimental to its chances today. MANUKA BAY (NZ) (J. Potter) – hampered at the start when taken out by RIVER CLYDE, which had shifted out on jumping away. |

LONGWARRY (M. Collett) - Change of tactics - attempt to be ridden further back from its wide barrier if possible. Settled at the rear of the field. NEXT DIMENSION (NZ) (J. Potter) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages. ABIT RATTLEY (M. Chadwick) – performed below market expectations. Rider reported that when placed under pressure in the straight the gelding did not respond to his riding and, in his opinion, was disappointing. Rider reported that the gelding travelled well until the 600m, however, after this point he became concerned with its action and prior to straightening TRUMPTY DUMPTY made an unusual respiratory noise and for this reason he eased his mount of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Trainer, Mr R. Jolly reported that a post-race endoscopy examination revealed a small degree of mucus in the gelding’s throat. Mr Jolly was advised the gelding must perform to the Stewards’ satisfaction in an Official Trial prior to a future race. FALAISE (J.
