BARE MINIMUM (S. Fawke) – jumped away awkwardly. Commenced to weaken from rounding the home turn and as a consequence was not ridden out fully by its rider from the 200m. Rider reported that the gelding may not have been suited to the track conditions and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg (2/5). Trainer, Mr G. Lynch, was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start. I LOVE THIS SONG (D. Caboche) – slow to begin. MCLEOD (S. Payne) – raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained in an attempt to gain cover, and as a result raced wide and without cover until inside the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the straight. SAM'S REWARD (J. Potter) – fractious in the barrier after being loaded. Trainer, Mr K. Healy, was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding. Held up for clear running from near the 200m until near the 100m when racing to the inside of STECARA, which was inclined to lay in, and was obliged to shift to the outside of that mare. SON OF VADAMOS (NZ) (Z. Lloyd) – laid in under pressure in the straight. AMBER NOOK (M. Collett) – raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Rider reported that the mare raced greenly throughout the event. GLACIES HEART (A. Jordsjo) – slow into stride. OUR HOST (R. Milnes) – slow to begin. STECARA (L. Neindorf) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Stewards questioned rider in relation to his riding of the mare over the concluding stages of the event. After considering his explanation Stewards charged L. Neindorf under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race (approximately one stride). Rider pleaded guilty to the charge and in assessing penalty Stewards had regard for his plea, record under this rule and that they could not be comfortably satisfied that his riding had affected the horses finishing position of third place in the event. L Neindorf was fined $500. |
