Fussy As (C. Murray) – hung out from the 600m until the entrance to the straight. Raced greenly and laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it was very agitated pre-race and this was a detriment to its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Future Command (T. Voorham) – jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.

Mystical Wisdom (J. Toeroek) - jumped away awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and was slow into stride.

Territorian (K. Crowther) – hung in under pressure in the straight. Rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it raced greenly throughout the event and will derive benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Snore Room (T. Pannell) - jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 500m until near the 300m.

Reigning Star (D. Tourneur) - jumped away awkwardly.

TEARDROP ROTATION (F. Atkinson) – laid in under pressure in the straight.

Frontal Attack (D. Caboche) – laid out under pressure in the straight.

Grande Forza (D. Tourneur) – raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Gold Spy (B. Price) - laid in under pressure in the straight.

Kalbarri (J. Opperman) – rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it travelled well during the event, however, may benefit from racing over shorter distances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Synchro (NZ) (J. Eaton) – near the 200m shifted out and away from DOLCEMENTE, which rolled out.

Hi Baby Face (A. Livesey) – over raced in the early and middle stages.

Ocherous (NZ) (C. Jones) - over raced in the early and middle stages.

DARK HELMET (NZ) (J. Holder) – difficulty in obtaining clear running from near the 400m until inside the 300m.

Dolcemente (C. Murray) – held up for clear running for a short distance near the 250m. Near the 200m rolled out.

Super Intelligent (T. Pannell) – rider explained that the filly did not feel comfortable in its action under pressure in the straight and for this reason he elected not to ride SUPER INTELLIGENT out in his normal manner over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

GARACHICO (GB) (J. Holder) – rider explained in relation to the gelding’s performance that it raced keenly in the early stages; however, travelled well in the middle stages and was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight. He added that when placed under pressure GARACHICO (GB) failed to respond to his riding as he had expected, and he was of the opinion that the gelding had either not handled the back up from racing last weekend or had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

LAKE’S FOLLY (R. Milnes) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LOOK SHARPISH (NZ). Inclined to lay out under pressure in that straight.

LOOK SHARPISH (NZ) (M. Collett) – on jumping away bumped with LAKE’S FOLLY, which shifted out.

CHOSEN MISS (A. Jordsjo) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it raced at Balaklava on Wednesday, 22 May 2024, which revealed an elevated heart rate. On further examination by the Veterinary Surgeon the mare was found to have cardiac arrhythmia (1st occurrence) and was deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on this advice Stewards withdrew CHOSEN MISS at 10:45am. Stable representative for Trainer, Mr G. Lynch was advised that he was required to comply with the Racing Australia Code of Practice in order for the mare to be reinstated to race.

SANTELMO FUEGO (B. Price) - jumped away awkwardly and shortly after lost its position when tightened between BACK ME UP BENNY and FIZIQUE.

BACK ME UP BENNY (T. Voorham) - jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

FIZIQUE (A. Livesey) - jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

SESAR (N. Farley) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it raced at Balaklava on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 and was deemed suitable to race. Raced wide and without cover from the 1200m.

MR COYNE (J. Eaton) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it raced at Balaklava on Wednesday, 22 May 2024 and was deemed suitable to race. Rider reported the gelding was one-paced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes owing to OUR DIVINYL having to be re-shod behind the barriers.

Surprise Coming (M. Collett) – hung in throughout the event.

Walk Like An Angel (J. Holder) – held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 200m.

Let's Get Down (L. Neindorf) – held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until inside the 200m when it shifted out when insufficiently clear of NAVY GOLD, which was obliged to take hold when tightened onto DERBY DOWNS, turning the hind quarters of that gelding and to avoid the heels of LET'S GET DOWN. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Tuesday, 4 June 2024 and to conclude midnight Saturday, 15 June 2024, a period of six meetings. In determining penalty, Stewards had regard for L. Neindorf’s poor record and his guilty plea.

The Stalker (T. Pannell) – rider explained that the gelding may be suited to racing over shorter distances and being ridden with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Derby Downs (K. Crowther) - jumped away awkwardly and shortly after was restrained and shifted in. Inside the 200m had its hind quarters turned out by NAVY GOLD which was taken out by LET'S GET DOWN, which shifted out when insufficiently clear.

Dodd (R. Milnes) – held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 100m and was not fully tested over the final 50m.

Our Divinyl (C. Jones) – required to be re-shod on arrival at the barriers as it had lost is off fore plate. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race. Shortly after the start, from its wide barrier, was restrained and shifted in, in attempt to gain cover.

Navy Gold (B. Price) – shortly after the start shifted in, in attempt to gain cover. Inside the 200m was obliged to take hold when tightened onto DERBY DOWNS, contacted that gelding and turned its hind quarters out as LET'S GET DOWN shifted out when insufficiently clear and was required to avoid the heels of that gelding.

TIPSY VIXEN (F. Atkinson) – difficulty in obtaining clear running from near the 400m until near the 200m.

The start of this event was delayed approximately two minutes to avoid a clash with an interstate event (Gold Coast).

El Salto (S. Payne) – reared as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the straight.

Qeyaady (J. Eaton) – as the start was effected dipped its head and as a result was slow to begin (approximately two to three lengths). Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Komachi (IRE) (B. Price) – slow into stride. Held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 150m.

Grand Host (J. Opperman) – raced keenly in the early stages.

My Ruby (J. Potter) – raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Foxy Femme (D. Tourneur) – shortly after the start was restrained and shifted in to obtain cover. Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 300m and thereafter had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 250m.

Startide (L. Neindorf) – held up for clear running from the entrance to straight and went untested to the finish line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.
