Mimetic Desire (J. Opperman) – slow to begin (four lengths). Trainer, Ms B. O’Loughlin was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly in relation to its starting manners.

Youraway (T. Madden) – proved difficult to load. Trainer, Mr L. Smith was advised that a warning had been placed on the filly in relation to its barrier manners.

Unorthodox (C. Tootell) – near the 800m, when racing greenly, shifted out and on straightening shifting back in and hampered THEMYSCIRA.

Themyscira (J. Weatherley) – hampered near the 800m.

Ludo (NZ) (A. Livesey) – laid out when placed under pressure from the 200m.

Bellonado (M. Julius) – near the 1000m had to steady to avoid the heels of CHUCKAMICKY, which received pressure and steadied in front. Near the 600m raced tight between FALLING LEAVES and CHUCKAMICKY, which shifted out slightly.

Bonanski (C. Tootell) – near the 1000m shifted in when insufficiently clear of HASTA LA TRUCE and tightened that horse in onto AMERICAIN MISS, which in turn, shifted in and tightened CHUCKAMICKY, which was steadied. Rider pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight Friday, 31 May 2024 and to conclude midnight Wednesday, 5 June 2024, a period of three meetings. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account C. Tootell’s record and her guilty plea.

Frise (H. Grace) – when questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained FRISE raced flat throughout and failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Americain Miss (A. Lindsay) – near the 1000m was hampered when taken in by HASTA LA TRUCE and tightened CHUCKAMICKY on its inside. Rider reported the mare hung out for the majority of the event.

Elsie Girl (J. Weatherley) – raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Falling Leaves (D. Tourneur) – near the 300m shifted in and tightened ROSTOPCHIN in onto HASTA LA TRUCE. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to exercise more care. When questioned in relation to the mare’s performance, rider explained that, in his opinion, FALLING LEAVES is better suited over a shorter distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Miss Firewater (K. Walters) - slow to begin. Rider reported the mare raced green throughout.

Rostopchin (T. Madden) – near the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FALLING LEAVES, which shifted in when not fully clear.

Hasta La Truce (C. Puls) – near the 1000m had to be steadied when tightened by BONANSKI and taken in onto AMERICAIN MISS.

Chuckamicky (S. Fawke) – near the 1000m was tightened on the inside of AMERICAIN MISS and as a result had to be steadied. Near the 600m shifted out slightly and tightened BELLONADO onto FALLING LEAVES.

Norwoods (NZ) (T. Madden) – when questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained that NORWOODS (NZ) travelled well early; however, was under pressure from the 1000m and despite his efforts commenced to weaken from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg (1/5) and a superficial laceration consistent with being galloped on. Trainer, Mr T. Dabernig was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race.

Gomento (F. Atkinson) – rider reported the gelding hung out rounding the turns near the 1600m and 600m.

Carashan Chloe (H. Grace) – fractious in its barrier after being loaded. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was deemed suitable to race.

Ocean Drift (NZ) (D. Tourneur) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it raced within the last seven days and was deemed suitable to race. Tailed the field for the majority of the event and finished a distant last. Trainer, Mr D. Bowman was advised that the mare would be required to prove competitive in an Official Barrier Trial prior to a future race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

The Parting Glass (NZ) (A. Jordsjo) – raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Emmooki Magic (C. Tootell) – rider reported the mare laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

Benovsky (S. Metcalfe) – rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(6)(b) for using her whip in an action that raised her arm above shoulder height and was fined $100.

Carry On Camping (J. Weatherley) – rider reported the gelding was fractious in the barrier and as a consequence was slow to begin. When questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained that as a result of the poor start CARRY ON CAMPING never travelled and failed to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Lady Annabel (NZ) (T. Voorham) - slow to begin.

Action In Cairns (D. Tourneur) – laid in shortly after the start and tightened CHILL WITH TEEJAY on its inside.

Fourth Power (T. Hutchinson) – began very awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out rounding the home turn and in the straight and proved difficult to ride.

Chill With Teejay (F. Atkinson) – tightened shortly after the start. When questioned in relation to the mare’s performance, rider explained CHILL WITH TEEJAY only travelled fairly throughout and did not respond when placed under pressure in the straight. She added that, in her opinion, the mare may not have backed up from its last start at Casterton on 19 May 2024. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Detnaw (J. Hill) – laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Thunder Park (K. Crowther) – near the 600m shifted out to avoid heels and in doing so hampered LIGHT OF ROSE. Rider reported the gelding pulled very hard during the event, particularly in the middle stages, and proved difficult to ride.

Light Of Rose (T. Madden) – got its head up near the 1000m when being restrained and lost ground. Near the 600m had to be steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of THUNDER PARK, which shifted out.

Shocking Habit (NZ) (A. Livesey) - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival on course as it raced within the last seven days and was deemed suitable to race.

Captain Joolian (C. Tootell) – raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider reported the gelding laid in for the majority of the event.

Eagles Forever (F. Atkinson) – when questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained that EAGLES FOREVER only travelled fair and failed to respond when placed under pressure. She added that, in her opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its campaign. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Pewter (C. Puls) – rider reported she had some concerns with the gelding’s action and as a result did not ride PEWTER out fully to the line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the gelding’s near hind leg.

Hava Craicin Time (H. Grace) – hung out rounding the home turn.

Innocent Pegg (A. Livesey) – near the 350m shifted out when not fully clear of FIGHTING FUND and as a result that horse had to be steadied. Rider was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised, in future, to exercise more care. Laid out when placed under pressure for the remainder of the event.

Fighting Fund (D. Tourneur) – began awkwardly and a result its rider became momentarily unbalanced. Held up and unable to improve from the 500m until near the 350m and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of INNOCENT PEGG, which shifted out.

The start of this event was delayed approximately three minutes to avoid a clash with an interstate event.

Brawl (H. Grace) – when questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained that he was not comfortable with BRAWL’s action and as such did not ride his mount out in his usual manner. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have backed up from Casterton on 19 May 2024. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

Dr Dee Dee (K. Crowther) – proved difficult to load.

Red Patrol (NZ) (K. Walters) – raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Victory Bandit (S. Metcalfe) – raced wide without cover in the early stages of the event. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted in today’s event, rider explained that looking at the form pre-race, the connections were of the opinion that there was not a lot of pace and therefore expected to settle a bit closer than usual, however, after being caught wide in the early stages, she elected to allow her mount to stride forward to sit outside the lead, which was a bit further forward than she intended.

Fast 'n' Forward (T. Voorham) – shifted out rounding the turn near the 500m when held up behind IMPOSING SUSPECT (NZ). Near the 200m became awkwardly placed on the heels of BRAWL and had to be steadied.

Imposing Suspect (NZ) (M. Collett) – when questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, rider explained that from the 800m to the 400m she was awkwardly placed on the heels of DR DEE DEE and had to steady on several occasions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

PRIZE LAD (S. Fawke) - late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2:18pm acting on confirmed advice from Trainer, Mr D. Drever that he was unable to arrive on course due to a float breakdown.
