Rider pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that used his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m and was fined $200. In determining penalty Stewards had regard for the totality of the use of the whip by A. Lai and noted that he used it on two occasion over the final 100m of the event. KETCHIKAN (A. Livesey) – near the 1600m was permitted to stride forward from the rear of the field by its rider to take up a position in the lead. SPEC RAIDER (A. Jordsjo) – rider reported that the mare may not have been suited by the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. |

DARING DECISION (A. Lai) – on jumping away bumped with KORATORA. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight. EIGHTY NINE BELOW (J. Eaton) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SURPRISE PENDING. Held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until near the 300m. Laid in for the remainder of the event. MON AMI (L. Neindorf) – near the 900m shifted in onto BENDING AWAY. OPPORTUNE CHANCE (M. Nunes) – near the 900m had its hindquarters turned in as it bumped with MY RICH BOY. SHAMPAS (S. Metcalfe) – underwent a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was deemed suitable to start. Rider reported that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action, and for this reason she did not ride it out in her normal manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. TERRITORIAN (J. Potter) – approaching the finish raced in restricted room between MON AMI and SURPRISE PENDING, and was not tested to the line. BELLENTIA (M. Collett) – turned its head as the start was effected and as a result jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the entrance to the straight until near the 300m where it shifted out to obtain clear running. BENDING AWAY (K. Crowther) – near the 900m shifted in and away from MON AMI onto MY RICH BOY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg (2/5). Co-trainers, Mr W. Clarken and Mr N. O’Shea, were advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to a future jump-out, trial or race start. KORATORA (D. Tourneur) – jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DARING DECISION. SURPRISE PENDING (A. Jordsjo) – on jumping away bumped with EIGHTY NINE BELOW. Near the 100m dipped. MY RICH BOY (B. Price) – near the 900m was obliged to be steadied and lost its position when tightened onto OPPORTUNE CHANCE and bumped the hindquarters of that mare as BENDING AWAY shifted in and away from MON AMI. Rider reported that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. Correct weight for this event was delayed to allow M. Collett (BELLENTIA) to view the vision of the start. |

Rider reported that the gelding travelled well during the event; however, failed to let down as he had anticipated and was disappointing to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. RUN ON (NZ) (S. Metcalfe) – Stewards questioned trainer, Ms P. Trenwith, in relation to the gelding’s performance. She explained that similar to its race start at Balaklava on 2 October 2024 the gelding is best suited to running on firm tracks, and also rising in distance in this event was favourable and she expected a forward performance.
