Cornell announced as Industry Operations Manager

Racing SA has announced the appointment of John Cornell as the new Industry Operations Manager.

Cornell boasts a distinguished career in racing having most recently spent two and half years as Racing SA’s Equine Welfare Officer. He replaces Nick Bawden who was promoted to the role of General Manager of Operations in October.

“After a rigorous process, and a significant number of highly credentialed applicants, we are thrilled to have John stepping into the role,’’ Racing SA Chief Executive Vaughn Lynch said.

“John brings a wealth of experience in the racing industry from his time as a rider, trainer and foreman before his excellent work since joining the Racing SA team in 2020 running our well-renowned equine welfare programs,’’ he said.

Racing SA is now on the search for an Equine Welfare Coordinator. The role will assist in the delivery of best practice equine welfare standards across the South Australian Thoroughbred Racing Industry.

“This newly created role is suited to anyone with a genuine love and care for the Thoroughbred and is a great chance to be mentored by John, who has a deep understanding of the industry,” Lynch said.
