Murray Bridge horseman Gary Boyce will try and continue a successful week interstate when talented mare Geminga heads to Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Boyce was in the winner’s stall with recent stable acquisition Sakasu on his home track on Wednesday and said Geminga was heading over the border in good order and buoyed by the fact top Adelaide jockey Todd Pannell will ride.
“She’s really well,’’ Boyce said.
“Having Todd coming over to ride is a plus,’’ he said.
Pannell partnered Geminga to consecutive wins at Morphettville and Murray Bridge in May, his only other ride on the five-year-old a near miss at Morphettville last month.
“He probably should be three from three on her,’’ Boyce added.
“She’s drawn the car park her past couple, so drawing a nice barrier in four is perfect.
“She should be able to get a nice run just in behind them and hopefully she can be in the finish,’’ he said.
Boyce said stablemate Sakasu was a horse who can continue to improve following an impressive maiden win at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.
The horse raced greenly and wanted to duck in over the concluding stages before safely holding rivals to win by 5.31 lengths.
“As long as we can keep his head in the right place, I am sure there are more wins in him,’’ Boyce said
“He just needs to put it all together, he obviously can lay in like he did the other day but he’s certainly got ability,’’ he said.
Todd Pannell is also booked to ride high-priced yearling Cashed who makes his debut for fellow Murray Bridge horseman Michael Hickmott, Kayla Crowther will partner Pure Bliss for the Will Clarken and Niki O’Shea stable while Andrew Clarken has Old Time Rock heading back to Melbourne
