Matthew Seyers Considering Interstate Options

Murray Bridge horseman Matthew Seyers could cast his net interstate with a couple of talented three-year-olds in the coming weeks.
Seyers said the Sandown Guineas - at Caulfield - at the end of the month could be an option for lightly-raced Dundeel gelding Dunreal and recent stable acquisition Colmar.
Colmar proved himself to be an above average two-year-old last season running second in the Listed Oaklands Plate behind Femminile before his breakthrough win in the Group 3 Sires’ Produce Stakes at Morphettville on the Parks in July.
He debuts for the Seyers stable on Saturday with his regular trainers Ron Daniel and Trish Stanbury away which explained the surprise stable change
“Ronny has gone on holidays,’’ Seyers said.
“He’s away for six or eight weeks, so the horse came here last Thursday,’’ he said.
Colmar was among nominations for the $500,000 Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday, Seyers said the horse was likely to stay in Adelaide and tackle a heat of the Rebel Raider Series over 1250m.
“We’ll keep him home,’’ Seyers said.
“If he can run well, then we’ll potentially go to Melbourne the following week for the Sandown Guineas,’’ he said.
Dunreal was an impressive winner at Balaklava over 1200m on debut before he was beaten 2.1 lengths behind Shootoose over the same trip at Morphettville last time.
He was also nominated in Melbourne - at Moonee Valley on Friday night - but like Colmar will jump up in trip to the mile at Morphettville on Saturday and a forward showing could earn him an interstate campaign.
“I’m looking to get him up in trip,’’ Seyers said.
“I think the best part of his race the other day was the final 80m-100m.
“He goes to the 1600m, Jacob back on and we’ll see where he’s at.
“If he ran well, we might look to take him over to Melbourne for that race as well,’’ he said.
