Horse sanctuary partners

Thorough Care SA is proud to partner and support Horse Rehabilitation Centre’s Windamere Horse Haven and Lincoln Park Horse and Human Rehabilitation Centre. Thorough Care SA work with each sanctuary to support thoroughbreds found in welfare situations that require emergency care, or veterinary assistance, at times in conjunction with the RSPCA.

Windamere Horse Haven

In response to the urgent need for such facilities in South Australia, Windamere Horse Haven was established, in 2013, as a not-for-profit rescue shelter for horses. Located in the Adelaide Hills region.

At Windamere, the team of devoted volunteers is guided by a set of ethical principles. With help from supportive local vets, equine dentists, physiotherapists, and farriers, they conduct thorough health checks on our horses as required.

It is only when a horse has completed rehabilitation and training that they begin to look for a suitable adoptive home for them.

Lincoln Park Horse and Human Rehabilitation Centre

Established from a passion to help defense veterans and horses in need. After operating for a year, Sonya and Lincoln discovered that there was a need to help more than veterans in the community and expanded to include everyone that may benefit from equine therapy.

The horses we use in the program are rescues that may have suffered neglect, abuse or come via RSPCA seizures. They are rehabilitated using only gentle and natural methods.

Lincoln Park has provided emergency care and housing for a truly remarkable number of horses of all breeds, and ages. Supported by the help of volunteers and sponsors, the team at Lincoln Park are contributing to equine welfare in incredible ways.
