After falling just short in last years Group 1 UBET Classic (formerly Robert Sangster Stakes) superstar local mare Viddora will look to go one better this year after kicking off her autumn campaign in tomorrow’s Group 3, $120,000, R. N. Irwin Stakes at Morphettville.
The winner of her last start two starts, the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes in Perth and the Magic Millions Snippets Sprint on the Gold Coast the well-travelled mare will face a difficult assignment first up with fellow Group 1 winners Flamberge and last year’s UBET Classic winner, Strategic Agenda, set to run as well as the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate runner up, Snitty Kitty, and talented Perth sprinter, Dainty Tess, also set to challenge. Other local hopes in the races include the Shane Oxlade speed machine, It’s a Been a Battle, who took home the Matrice Stakes on Adelaide Cup Day and last years Goodwood placegetter Casino Wizard.
Viddora looked impressive in her recent trial where she had a comfortable two-length victory over Mystified and last Saturday winner Desert Lashes. She has drawn gate three with regular jockey Joe Bowditch in the saddle.
