It’s time to get behind our All-Star SA horses! With the chance for you to win big.
This year The All Star Mile will be held at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday March 16. This is the only race in Australia where you get to play a part in choosing the final field in a race.
Ten horses will be picked by the public and your vote will automatically enter you into the draw to win a share in $500,000 prizemoney- including $250,000 for the first prize.
Let’s take a look at our SA All Star profiles.
Trainer- Ryan Balfour
When Balf's Choice won his first race at start number nine in a Mildura maiden over 2000m in May of 2016, it's doubtful anyone would have predicted that 27 races later he would have registered another eight victories. He has proven to be a mile specialist winning six times over the trip including the Listed Balaklava and Seymour Cups.
Trainer- Tony McEvoy
A winner of the 2017 Tokyo City Cup at Listed level, he has only had the one win over 1600 metres. The Tony McEvoy trained gelding has a knack of running cheeky races at big prices, including a 3rd in the 2018 Tokyo City Cup at $31.

Calderon although yet to show his best since coming to Australia does have a win in a Group 3 race in England to his name when he defeated former Cox Plate placegetter Folkswood.

Jester Halo hasn’t won yet at 1600m but the six year old mare has found herself in 7 Group or Listed races including the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes. Trained by former Mount Gambier track curator Darren Kolpin Jester Halo ran third in the Group 3 Matron Stakes at Flemington last Autumn
Trainer- Tony McEvoy
Having only won two from 15 starts, including the Rivette Series final last winter. She is from an astute yard and also has a second in the Group 3 Champagne Stakes behind the speedy Houtzen.

Miss Siska is a half-sister to former top sprinter Hay List, Miss Siska has had 5 wins from 15 starts and ran second in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes at Flemington in the spring

Has placed nine times from 11 starts including four wins, the last win being over 1800m at Flemington in impressive fashion.
Trainer- Will Clarken
Steel Frost began his career in NSW, before being purchased in mid-2017 by young South Australian trainer Will Clarken. Steel Frost won his first four for Clarken including two at Caulfield. He has since won two listed races at Morphettville and finished a close up sixth in the Group 1 Goodwood last preparation.
Trainer- Lean Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas
South Australians could rally around Waging War, who is trained in Morphettville by the successful Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas partnership. A winner of the Group 3 Chairmans Stakes as a Three Year Old this son of Rebel Raider’s last win was in the rich VOBIS Gold Mile at Caulfield. He also finished close up in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap in the spring.
