The borders might be open, but connections of South Australian middle-distance galloper Regalo Di Gaetano will be cheering from afar when he chases a third successive feature race win in the $200,000 Group 3 Eclipse Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
“Even though the border has opened up, I think people are a little bit gun shy about travelling just yet,’’ co-trainer Richard Jolly said.
“We’ve got a good system in place with sending the horses over, and I couldn’t be happier with him,’’ he said.
Despite coming off wins in the Murray Bridge Cup and John Letts Cup in Adelaide, Regalo Di Gaetano finds himself marked a $13 chance with tab.com.au, but Jolly said the horse would run his usual honest race.
“He always runs well,’’ Jolly said.
“It’s always difficult to line the form up in a race like this but he goes over having only has the three runs, and this race looks ideal for him,’’ he said.
At Morphettville, Richard and daughter Chantelle have a big hand with eight runners.
“We’ve had a bit of a frustrating couple of weeks here in Adelaide, the horses have been close without winning, but overall, the stable is going well,’’ he said.
