LIANNE (Race 9)

RACE 1 - 12:17PM AM & ME Langsford Plasterboard Contractors Handicap (1000 METRES)

CHAMPAGNE DREAMS was impressive first-up leading throughout to beat Vintage Folly at Balaklava. This is harder but she’s a filly with upside. STAR ESPRESSO comes off a good Gawler win. She gets winkers the first time and draws the inside. HURTLE draws out but has the blinkers on and wasn’t beaten far at Moonee Valley last time. BRAZEN BOY led and was run down by Star Espresso last time the drop back in trip suits and he is a winner here.

SELECTIONS: 2 CHAMPAGNE DREAMS, 3 Star Espresso, 1 Hurtle, 5 Brazen Boy

PLAY: Staying with CHAMPAGNE DREAMS each-way.

RACE 2 - 12:52PM Magic Millions Handicap (2500 METRES)

Victorian SHEEZABIGDEEL brings some OK form over the border running 2nd behind Fighting Arrow at Terang last time. That form reads OK for this. BRONSKI was a Gawler winner before being narrowly beaten by Fighter last time. ALL HARD WOOD comes off a good win back in class and must be respected. SENTRY GATE battled away in the same race and is down in the weights.

SELECTIONS: 3 SHEEZABIGDEEL, 2 Bronski, 1 All Hard Wood, 7 Sentry Gate

PLAY: Backing SHEEZBIGDEEL with Todd Pannell riding.

RACE 3 - 1:27PM TAB Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

STARS THE LIMIT resumes here for the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable and was placed behind Royal Dress at Morphettville on debut before starting favourite at Balaklava being Miss Daniel. She draws barrier three and looked good being pushed to win a recent Morphettville jump-out. DAME GINA is on debut for the Stokes stable and has had four jump-outs and looked for winning one at Morphettville back in November. ANJOPIN debuts for the Jaensch stable and looked good in a recent jump-out here. KASAMI has been placed at three of four starts in Victoria and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: 3 STARS THE LIMIT, 5 Dame Gina, 2 Anjopin, 6 Kasami

PLAY: STARS THE LIMIT looks one for multis.

RACE 4 - 2:02PM Watson's Landscaping Handicap (1000 METRES)

HEKA EXPRESS has ben flying since coming to SA and was runner-up behind Appalachian first-up before beating Thompson’s Reward. She draws wide but looks to have found another very winnable race. Hoof pads going on the concern. MODEAR has solid Victorian form and was a Flemington winner in May. Her first-up run behind Florescent Star was OK for this. TANJA’S DREAM was impressive first-up from a break leading throughout to win easily at Gawler. This is harder but she gets in well. DANTREE comes off a good win on the Parks track and has been in the money at two of three starts here.

SELECTIONS: 2 HEKA EXPRESS, 3 Modear, 7 Tanka’s Dream, 9 Dantree

PLAY: Something on MODEAR each-way at the $5.50.

RACE 5 - 2:42PM Celebration of Ron Morgan's Life Handicap (1800 METRES)

BEA TEMPTED has a good winning record and comes off a nice return at Flemington when specked at odds behind High ‘N’ Dry. The extra rip appeal and she gets in nicely after the claim. TRADEWIND comes off a good win back in class. He’s always been a nice horse who looks to have regained his groove out in trip. WERTHEIMER won consecutive races before going to Flemington and failing to be a factor. He’s back in trip but draws a nice barrier. DR DEE DEE is racing well and should get a nice run from an inside gate. STEALTHY LUCAS comes off a good Morphettville win at a price and must be respected. CALIBIRN has been good in two SA runs.

SELECTIONS: 1 BEA TEMPTED, 7 Tradewind, 5 Wertheimer, 6 Dr Dee Dee

PLAY: BEA TEMPTED looks perfectly placed.

RACE 6 - 3:22PM Dutton's Easy To Do Business With!! Handicap (1600 METRES)

Tricky race ad happy to stay out. KUNG FU FIGHTING was a good winner here on debut and draws a nice barrier, but this is a step up in class and I’m not keen to jump in at the $1.95 on offer in early markets. OATH OF OMERTA showed ability in his first prep beating So You Can last September and hasn’t raced since the Chairman’s Stakes. CRYPTO CURRENCY has been around the mark and must be respected in a race like this. OUR DESTRIER was a good at Bendigo two runs back before winning at Albury last time. He draws out but gets some weight relief and the stable has a good strike-rate in SA. GRAFTON AVENUE draws out but stuck on well behind HARBOURING who then went to Naracoorte and run 3rd.

SELECTIONS: 7 KUNG FU FIGHTING, 6 Oath Of Omerta, 3 Crypto Currency, 1 Our Destrier

PLAY: OATH OF OMERTA looks a solid place bet.

RACE 7 - 4:02PM Irongate Handicap (900 METRES)

Should be good speed here and staying with APPALACHIAN who got the money first-up from a spell on the Parks beating Heka Express and has been kept fresh for this. He is winless in three starts here but has a brilliant turn of foot. The 900m is right in the slot for DESERT SPIRIT who has won six of his eight wins over the 1000m and placed both times at this trip. He draws the inside has Jacob Opperman and trialled smartly for this and is sure to give them something to run down. DESTNY’S REPUBLIC is another who likes to be on speed and won three on end in the winter. He’s had to runs back and debuts for Matt Seyers. SEA WITNESS is another who will relish the short trip and likes to roll forward. RISING SPHERE draws wide but was a Geelong winner two starts back before racing on speed behind Great Leveller last time. The drop back in trip suits despite the wide gate. The quicker they go the better for SELF SUFFICIENT is fitter and should get a perfect run from the barrier. KISHSTAR has a won three of five here.

SELECTIONS: 2 APPALACIAN, 3 Desert Spirit, 6 Self Sufficient, 7 Kishstar

PLAY: Backing APPALACHIAN and also something on SELF SUFFICIENT.

RACE 8 - 4:42PM Carlton Draught Handicap (1400 METRES)

SPECTACLE was a good winner two starts back before another solid effort behind Picaroon in a good form race last time. She should get every chance form a middle gate. POINT BLAZE is racing really well and comes off a Morphettville win beating Got The Style. The second of the McEvoy runners  VANCITY GEM was runner-up behind Indian Gazelle here last time and her best form is good enough to give this a shake. LAKE’S FOLLY was a tough watch last week and should have beaten Stealthy Lucas at Morphettville. He draws out wide and drops back in trip but should go well. MAY BE FATE is another who is ready to win. He was placed at thee on end before an OK effort behind Zoulah last time but gets blinkers again and the inside barrier. ECHO BOOMER draws out but must be respected, LI’L HANK was average last time but shapes an improver.

SELECTIONS: 9 SPECTACLE, 8 Point Blaze, 4 Lake’s Folly, 5 May Be Fate

PLAY: Something on MAY BE FATE at the big price.

RACE 9 - 5:22PM Faulty Towers @ Bridges Event Centre - May 6th 2022 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Tough end to the day and I’ve gone searching for value. BELLE OF YORKES could be an improver second-up. She was OK behind Star Espresso at Gawler and looked good winner here back in July. YE HELLA is a winner here and ran well behind Tanja’s Dream at Gawler first-up from a spell. LIANNE is former Victorian first-up for Jordan Frew an comes off a Geelong placing behind Angel Like which is good form for a race like this. JOURNEY TO PETRA was a Morphettville winner on debut and then solid behind Got The Style at Gawler. AMBIDAZZLE is a winner here and was OK first-up from a spell. She draws a middle gate and should get a nice run. VINDEX has a good record here and draws well.

SELECTIONS: 12 BELLE OF YORKES, 3 Ye Hella, 13 Lianne, 5 Journey To Peta

PLAY: BELLE OF YORKES and LIANNE both look big odds in an open race.
