Weekend Wrap: Jolly big Saturday, apprentices dominate

A disappointing start to the week turned full circle for Richard and Chantelle Jolly at Morphettville on Saturday.

The stable was dealt a blow after Regalo Di Gaetano was withdrawn from the All-Star Mile on Tuesday but that became a distant memory when they trained four winners from just four runners on at Morphettville on Saturday.

Jacks On Ice kick started things winning the opening race with Campbell Rawiller in the saddle before Daring Move scored with Jake Toeroek, both horses now having won two of their three starts.

Seymour Bloodstock’s Pudding kept the momentum rolling with a dominant three length win first-up from a spell before classy sprinting mare All Banter gave Rawiller a riding double when she ran down Spanish Heirloom.

Their red hot form has seen the stable train nine winners from their past 15 starters.

It was another big day for the Racing SA Apprentice Academy winning six of the nine races on Saturday. Rawiller, Ben Price and Angus Chung all picked up riding doubles, and that continued at Port Lincoln on Sunday.

Price, Stacey Callow, Sophie Logan and Alice Lindsay each took out races before the meeting was abandoned.

And while SA was without a runner in the $5m All-Star Mile, star jockey Jamie Kah’s massive week continued winning the feature on Zaaki.
