Clare Lindop Stakes awaits Mac 'N' Cheese

Top trainer Tony McEvoy can’t fault promising filly Mac ‘N' Cheese heading into Saturday’s $107,250 Listed Clare Lindop Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville.

Mac ‘N’ Cheese produced a brilliant turn of foot at her first run for the campaign to win on Adelaide Cup Day and McEvoy said stepping up to the mile looked ideal.

“It was a great return,’’ McEvoy said.

While the stable believe the filly has given all the signs that the mile won’t be an issue, he’s unsure just how far the half-sister to Group 1 winning sprinter Exceedance will go ahead of the upcoming three-year-old fillies features during the Adelaide Racing Carnival.

“I’m not sure how far she’ll get,’’ McEvoy said.

“On her pedigree being a relation Exceedance, the 2000m of the Oaks might be beyond her,’’ he said.

“We’ll suck it and see.

“Everything at home tells me she’ll be OK but we will just take it race by race,’’ he said.

McEvoy also accepted with Prefer Us and Last Girl Love, who falls into a similar category as Mac ‘N’ Cheese.

“Prefer Us won’t run from the wide barrier,’’ McEvoy said.

“The other filly Last Girl Love is an upcoming horse, being a Snitzel, we’re not sure how far she’ll get either, but we’ll put them on the path (to the Oaks) and let them tell us how far they will go,’’ he said.
