Group 1 winner highlights loaded Irwin Stakes noms

Group 1 Goodwood winner Trekking headlines nominations for Saturday’s $127,250 Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville.

The classy Godolphin galloper, who boasts $5,857,445 in prizemoney, could make his return to Adelaide for the first time since he run down local sprint star Gytrash in the final stride in 2020 Goodwood.

Last year’s Sangster Stakes winner Instant Celebrity is among nominations for her first run as she targets a second Sangster success. The Phillip Stokes-trained mare hasn’t raced since a disappointing end to her spring when seventh behind Justacanta in the Group 3 Linlithglow Stakes at Flemington.

Leon and Troy Corstens have nominated Swats That and The Astrologist for the feature which could also see the return to racing of 2020 Sangster winner Bella Vella.

Swats That finished fifth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap behind Roch ‘N’ Horse while The Astrologist hasn’t raced since running sixth in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes behind September Run.

Ryan Balfour has nominated Outlaws Revenge for his first run of the Adelaide Racing Carnival following a short break after running in the Group 3 Standish Handicap at Flemington in early January.

The $107,250 Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) for three-year-old’s features a host of quality Victorian gallopers including General Beau who was placed behind September Run in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley last month.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Extreme Choice, who hasn’t started since running a $3.40 favourite in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington back in spring, is among entries along with Sneaky Five and I Am Me from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Godolphin trainer James Cummings has Bacchanalia and Heresy entered while Will Clarken is likely to debut Extremely Lucky who created a big impression winning at Murray Bridge on debut before being purchased by stable clients.

Exciting local Magic Max returns from Melbourne, the Wayne Francis and Glen Kent stable have Champagne Dreams back home following her narrow defeated in the Typhoon Tracy at Moonee Valley in February, while Manhatten Times comes off his eye-catching run behind Ironclad in the Matrice Stakes.
