Mount Gambier Racing Club will host the 2023 Scott Group of Companies Gold Cup on Friday 31 March 2023 which will see the popular event again return to the more traditional timing of Autumn.
After trialling December cup meetings in previous years, the club decided to provide members and stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback on the timing of the annual event.
“We recently undertook a survey of various stakeholders involved with the Gold Cup event and the feedback was workshopped by the committee to ascertain the most suitable time of year for the event,” Mount Gambier Racing Club General Manager Brett Watson said.
"We wanted to provide our members, sponsors and others involved an opportunity to provide their input to establish the best way forward for the event and provide some certainty around the timing of our major event for future years.”
Local trainer Trevor White won the 2022 edition of the Gold Cup in April, with Clever Man saluting under veteran jockey Paul Gatt.
