Adelaide Cup winner Daqiansweet Junior will continue his progression towards the Melbourne Cup in Saturday’s MRC Foundation Cup at Caulfield.
The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding strips fitter for a nice return when beaten 3.95 lengths behind Emissary in the Heatherlie Handicap and OTI Racing’s Terry Henderson said the horse was ticking along nicely towards the race that stops the nation.
“He’s very well, we’re very happy with him,’’ Henderson said on RadioTAB.
“He goes to the Naturalism, he’ll probably need that run again.
“It’s a bit short of his journey but from there he’ll go to the Bart Cummings and follow a more conventional path through to the Cup.
“We gave him a more European preparation which is becoming more common these days. You don’t put them out in the paddock, he’s just been kept around Phillip Stokes farm, swimming every second day, someone jumps on his back every third day and keeping him happy and not letting him get to heavy,’’ he said.
