Apprentice Academy Highlights: December 2022

Teagan Voorham and Alana Livesey had plenty of reasons to celebrate in December.

Voorham claimed her second Listed victory aboard Diamonds in the Christmas Handicap at Morphettville while recording 12 wins from 72 rides – riding at 17 per cent runners to winners - to follow on from a massive November.

Her memorable month included her first metropolitan treble at Gawler on December 17, a day the Racing SA Apprentice Academy dominated riding six of the nine winners.

It was also a big month for Livesey who had her first metropolitan victory aboard Picargo for trainer Ryan Balfour at Gawler before backing that up with her first city double at Morphettville on Boxing Day.

Livesey has ridden 30 winners across South Australia in season 2022-23 to sit equal fourth of the SA Jockey Premiership alongside Ben Price, while Voorham and Ellis Wong have both ridden 29 winners.

Rochelle Milnes landed his first winner at Port Lincoln and made it a double on the same day while there was another fresh face at the races with Caitlyn Munro making her riding debut at Bordertown.
