The South Australia racing and breeding industry has been saddened by the sudden passing of Brian Toole of Kambula Stud.
Toole, 85, was a well-known figure through the industry having helped grow Kambula into one of South Australia's most successful thoroughbred studs producing numerous topline gallopers while also standing Group 1 winner Blevic for 16 seasons.
Brian, and his brother Peter, were recognised for their accomplishments in the industry as recipients of the SA Thoroughbred Breeders’ prestigious Matrice Award in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Bette, seven children, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
