Prizemoney on the line for Trackwork Rider & Stablehand/Strapper of the Year Awards

For the first time prizemoney is up for grabs for the winner of the Trackwork Rider of the Year award, and the Stablehand/Strapper of the Year award, at Racing SA’s night of nights at the Wolf Blass Event Centre at Morphettville on Saturday, September 7.

The winner of these categories will receive $1000 each. The runner-up and finalists pocket $500 each.

In another first, all licensed participants including owners can now nominate their favourite trackwork rider or stablehand/strapper for the Industry Awards. Previously only trainers could nominate.

“Racing SA wants to shine a light on those that give their heart and soul to our great industry and recognise the important contribution that they make,” said Racing SA Chief Executive Officer Vaughn Lynch.

“We know there are so many great trackwork riders and stablehands in our state, and we encourage as many people as possible to nominate.

“These roles are so important to the success of their stables, and not only will these awards highlight the wonderful work that these horsemen and women are doing, but they’ll receive a nice little bonus as well.

“There’s been lots to celebrate during the 2023/2024 racing season and we encourage all our participants to get in early and purchase their tickets for what should be a great night at the Wolf Blass “The Man”  centre,” said Lynch.

South Australia’s most outstanding rider will be honoured on the night with the John Letts medal. Our state’s premiership winning jockeys and trainers will also be celebrated.

Nominations are also encouraged for the Most Outstanding Achievement Award by a Club and Most Outstanding Achievement Award by an Individual or Volunteer Group.

Overall, 16 industry awards will be presented with a full list of the award categories and criteria on the website. Head to the Racing SA website to nominate, or to book your tickets:
