See You In Heaven out to defend Group 3 Behemoth Stakes title

Defending champion See You In Heaven and exciting four-year-old Air Assault headline nominations for Saturday’s $150,000 Group 3 Behemoth Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

See You In Heaven has raced just three times since she scored a commanding 1.2 length win in last year’s edition.

She went on to finish second in the Leon Macdonald Stakes, fourth behind Amelia’s Jewel in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington before she was beaten 5.75 lengths in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield last October.

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable also have Aviatress second-up following her placing in the Listed Lightning Stakes and stablemate Karacasu.

See You In Heaven kicks off her 2024 spring alongside another horse who will be hoping to again take his racing to a new level this campaign – the Andrew Gluyas-trained Air Assault.

The four-year-old had a brilliant Adelaide Racing Carnival, winning three races in succession that included the Morphettville and Port Adelaide Guineas, finishing third behind Bold Soul in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes over 2000m.

His last run another brave third behind Coco Sun and subsequent Queensland Derby winner Warmonger in the Group 1 South Australian Derby at Morphettville in May.

Air Assault will joined in the feature by stablemate Arugamama, while SA’s leading trainer’s of last season Will Clarken and Niki O’Shea have no short of four nominations including Boognish, Episodic, Extremely Lucky and impressive last-start winner Second To Nun.

Press Down also returns to Adelaide on the back of a disappointing last start down the Flemington straight while the David Aldridge-trained Chicago Storm also resumes following a brilliant carnival.
